Kitty Needs a MEDIC!!?

my cat is really hurt, i think it is because he got hur in a fight. Plz, his paw hurt real bad, i mean just getting 2in. close to his paw he yowls in pain. My mom isnt doing anything about it, and i'm begging her to send him to 2 a vet, what do i do please help?
Answers:
If she is not bleeding, your mom very well may be right. Give it time to heal. If there is blood, call a vet and ask for advice. If the vet knows that you are under age and don't have the authority to bring it in, then they may help over the phone. If there is blood and puss, or it won't stop bleeding at all, same thing, call the vet and explain the situation.
But, remember that your mom isn't heartless. Vet bills are expensive and sometimes people just want to make sure it is completely necessary before taking an animal in, especially on a weekend when it is even more expensive. If it makes you feel any better, cats are resiliant. I had one that was hit by a car, he was limping but had no other signs that anything was wrong. We couldn't get near him without him hissing at us. I was young and didn't have the money to go to the vet, so I waited a few days. When he still wasn't walking well, I took him in and they did x-rays and found that his hip had been broken. I was told for $700 they could operate which would bring him back up to 85% or not and he would heal to about 70%. I opted not to operate as I could not afford it and he healed just fine. I would be willing to say he is up to 100%. He is now 11 yrs old. It is amazing what a cat's body can do on it's own.
If there is only a little blood, ask mom to help you clean him up with peroxide. (This way if it is worse than she thought, she will see it. By you asking for her to help, it shows her that you accept her answer and are just needing her help. Also, after cleaned up, you may see it isn't as bad as you thought.) If there is no blood, wait it out over night and reapproach mom tomorrow about it. If there is a lot of blood, call the vet and see what they tell you. It could be something as simple as someone stepped on her foot and she doesn't want you to touch. Be patient. I hope your kitty is ok. Don't worry though, she won't pass away from this. Just take a deep breath and bring kitty a treat to help her feel better. I hope this helps you, hon. :)
I know it is hard sometimes, but remember that mom knows best, even if you don't think so. I am sure your mom doesn't want your kitty to hurt either, but she has to look at the whole picture and maybe she has been through this before and knows its ok. Give her the benefit of the doubt. Staying calm will help kitty too. I wish kitty the best.
There's nothing you can do, unless you have the money to pay for his medical care at the vet. There may be some state program for vet bills, but I wouldn't know about your state. Would your dad or another relative be willing to take him to the vet?
take him to a vet asap he could have broken something.
look in phone book for emergency vets.most are open 24 hours.

next remind mom that not looking after the cat is considered animal abuse and can bring up to 30 days in jail and upwards of $5000 in fines.
If you can tell from feeling it that it isn't broken, and it isn't ridiculously swollen, the best thing is to leave it heal naturally. Cats are amazing animals. My little Joseph had me believing he had broken his leg once but really it was just barely hurt and in a day he was back to normal. If he is bleeding profusely or you see clearly that it is broken, of course you need to get him to a vet immediately.
If mom won't take kitty..probably isn't as serious as you think.

Try putting an ice-pack on the paw.
It will reduce any swelling.
15 minutes out of each hour for the first 24 hours.

and for "NUNO's" [goof above] info.not taking a kitty to the vet is NOT animal abuse. He should look up the law before trying to start a fight with you and your Mom.
Call the vet yourself and tell them everything is wrong and if they tell you to bring your cat in, then put your mom on the phone to talk to them. Good luck.I hope your cat gets better! :)
Sounds like your cat need to seek immediate vet attention call up your friends or something to have them take your cat to the vet there is nothing you can do to cure this kind of injury at home it needs to be looked at by the vet
Is he bleeding? Is he limping? There isn't much you can do until you find out what exactly is causing his pain. He needs to see the vet. It is hard to see a cat in pain. Encourage your mother to take the cat to the vet. Maybe it is something else. Maybe he got stepped on and not in a fight. Will he let you get a closer look? Try to see if there is anything in his paw like a splinter. I will pray for your kitty and for your mother to take him to the vet.
get some copper sulphate mix it to sky blue with water and dip it in it will be better in no time ill guarantee it good luck
Cats that go outside will fight. Especially un-neutered males. If it just happened, it is just sore from the bite itself. No need to see a vet today. Infection will show up in a couple of days, and if that happens, a trip to the vet is recommended. You can try and prevent the infection by warm epsom salt soaks twice a day for 2-3 days. In the long run worried from a bite might include contracting feline leukemia or feline aids. There are vaccines for both that should have been given two times before 4 months old.
Though i am not a vet and not even a medic, i am a cat lover for sure and have had atleast 20 cats in past. please check if there is a piece of glass or something gone inside his paw. check slowly taking care not to hurt him. assure him first that you are trying to help him. if there is anything inside, first try to take it out. or there might be a bone injury or a broken bone. i would try to use a warm cloth with a lot of precaution. please take care not to hurt him more.
u could go to the vet on ur own and explain what is going on and hope u have a caring vet that does charity work otherwise u r going to have to let it heal on its own. Leave the cat b and he will take care of it . just make sure he has food and water and in the future don't let him out to get hurt.
This is why cats and dogs should be indoor animals so they don't get in fights with other animals or get hit by cars
Pour hyrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol over the wound. If he's bleeding freely, tell your Mom he needs stitches.
you need to wrap his paw in a cloth or one of those wrap on bandanges. just make sure it doesn't get infected and it should heal over time. keep trying to persuade your mom into taking him to a vet.
stay away from the cat as when in pain she may be more likelky to try to scratch you, put here in ablanket and make her comfortable in case shock sets in, lots of water and food available

if bleeding then possibly stepped on something or could be a break as cats are always jumping from heights they shouldnt consider really, i would try your local vet - you can search online or try the phone book, describe symptoms and they will tell u what to do (they will do this for free over phone i think) then if symptoms u know you need to take to vet

if you suspect the cat has been in a fight then you should get it checked by a vet bcos it may have other injuries like a puncture wound you cant see, the shock is very important though as animals are not like us they cannot handle things as easy so u have to keep cat warm and happy

if serious they may come out, but usually u need to take the cat to them. unfortunately with animals there is no 'nhs' yet so you have to pay - with xmas this may be why your mother is reluctant so try to be delicate about the subject as xmas costs a lot, perhaps if you offered to pay out of allowance?? some charities will do for free or most vets have a payment plan so you can stretch the cost and a vet may consider charity work in this kind of case, hope that helps
One of three things could be wrong. One is a severe sprain or mashed paw. If by feeling gently you can not feel any broken bones, a cold pack should help. Second would be a bite or puncture wound that is trying to abscess. This can take a few days to come to a head and drain. These injuries will feel very hot. After about 12 hours from the injury, you could soak the paw in epson salts or apply a hot pack for 10 to 15 minutes two to three times a day. Third, if the paw is broken, you should go to a veterinarian. If that is not possible, you could apply a splint. First wrap with cotton, then two popcicle sticks (or something similar), and then tape. Make it firm but not too tight. Kitty must wear the splint for around four weeks.
Kitty needs antibiotics, anisthetics, and probably stitches or at least a band-aid. If its a crush wound your cat will need a cast for broken bones. There is risk of infection and death without antibiotics. Try to keep cat hydrated and fed by moving food, water and litter box as close as you can.

Promise to pay for as much of the treatment as you can, and to take the rest out of your allowance if possible. Cry. Scream. Ask neighbors for help. Manipulating your parents is usually not nice, but a sick cat justifies it.
