Kitty Roll?

why is it that when my kitten is happy and purring she rubs he head agianst any part of my leg then rolls over on her back with her tummy exposed. I thought that it might be that she want's her stomach rubbed, but usually she hates it when people go anywhere near her belly.

I would guess it could be one of two things:

1. She could be in heat. This could happen as early as 12 weeks (as I found out when my 5-month old kitten surprised me a while ago by going into heat the first time!) If she's more vocal than usual, and seems uncomfortable, this could be the case. You could also try rubbing her low on the back, just above the tail - if she's in heat she'll probably enjoy that MUCH more than usual, her back legs will kick hard against you etc. When in heat cats usually also enjoy having the lower part of their belly rubbed, which is why I suspect she may be in heat from her behavior. they also roll around on the floor sometimes. If she's in heat and you don't plan to breed with her, please have her spayed!

2. It could simply be a sign of trust, that she opens up her belly and throat area to you. Or maybe she's changing her preferences, and wants a belly rub. or she only wants a belly rub from you, and not from anyone else!

I don't know what else it could be, hope this helps!
dunno..probally just laying
just there way of saying play with me and they are happy
cats are strange. lol. i've had a few. and mine hated having their stomach touched also. just their way of letting you know they still want to play. you tease them by doing that which entices them to play some more.
also, cats have a tendency of showing you their butt. it's another sign of affection. strange, but true. so if you ever pet your kitty and it turns around and kinda sticks it's booty out.it means she loves you
when cats or dogs roll over on their back, exposing their belly, it is a sign of submission. It's his way of acknoledging that your the "boss". I'm sure when you go to rub his belly when he does this he grabs hold of you and bites your hand. Thats his way of seeing if he can be the "boss of you". It's also how they play. They have a natural instinct to grab with their claws and bite. It's just their way. Some cats hate the stomach rubbed, and actually bait you into scratching it to establish thier domonance.
she is showing that she loves and totally trusts you to expose her most vulnerable part of her body to you
she's showing she trusts you. cats are weird creatures. they usually don't expose their bellies to just anyone! feel lucky she's doing for you!
1. Rubbing on your legs - she marks you as her property (so to speak) - actually sharing scents, so that she feels secure.
2. Rolling on her back and exposing her tummy - means she trusts you, thoroughly and completely, that you will not hurt her, she feels safe and sound and calm. Some cats do, some cats don't do this, but that means that you do have control over her. in terms of punishment - just lack of attention will do (please use it sparingly). It also means you'd better not betray her trust.
