kitten sneezing?

I just got my kitten today. She will be 3 months old tomorrow. I got her at a local animal rescue shelter. I visited the kittens on Thursday and she seemed to be the friendliest, wanting to be picked up. I saw her today and she was the same way only more hyper. I got her home and about an hour or two later, I noticed that she was sneezing. Not often, but enough for me to raise an eyebrow. I am going to make a vet appointment ASAP but I was wondering what I should do in the meantime to help her with her sneezing and small runny nose? It is clear discharge if this helps and when she sniffs something, thats when she seems to sneeze. Any suggestions until my vet appointment? :)
Answers:
Make sure the kitten eats and drinks and get to a vet when you can. It is a common URI that shelter kittens get a lot. The vet will give antibiotics.

Many kittens have no symptoms at the shelter but are infact harboring the virus. Sometimes just the stress of going to a new home will cause the symptoms to appear.
You still need to see a vet.
Call the shelter. Sometimes they will cover it if it is within a certain timeframe.
On a vet show, these kittens were sneezing and they had a disease called herpes.
They didn't die, but hey need medication and vet attention.
it usually means they have a upper respertory infection i have been through that many times with my kitties
Just keep her nose and eyes clean and wash your hands so you don't spread anything back to her and always use a clean cloth. Do NOT give any OTC medications. Call the vet first thing Monday morning and get her on the road to recovery. Call the shelter, they may reimburse you for vet visits. Read their disclaimer/adoption agreement, etc. for any fine print. They might also have a vet on staff to look her over and prescribe any needed medications.
it is probably just new smells and perhaps she is just inhaling too deep. she may b allergic to some of them and that is what is making her sneeze, or it could just b the excitement of being in a new place. take her to the vet as soon as u can just to have her checked out and make sure all is ok good luck
In shelters, there are a lot of viruses floating around. She probably just has got a cold. You only have to be concerned if there is green bile coming from her eyes or nose. If not, it's something that will pass in time.
I have a new kitten too. He sneezes when he gets excited. Maybe things just tickle his nose? If his eyes look good then he shouldnt have a cold :)
There is nothing you can do or give at home. Just keep the eyes and nose clean until you can get into the vet. Probably nothing but could be an upper respiratory infection.
Hmm- could there be fumes that she is sensitive to?

In the meanwhile, keep the little one in a warm, comfortable place and out of drafts. And use a warm, damp wash cloth to clean her nose.

Good luck!
She just prob got something in her nose like a little piece of carpet or something. She should be fine.

Best luck with your baby girl(kitty)
