If you cannot afford a checkup at the vet at least go to a vet to get kitten deworming medication. Explain your financial situation. Most people who work with animals have compassion. They will charge you for the medication, but the cost will be nominal if you cannot afford a full checkup at this time. Also, many vets take "charity" cases and provide free or low cost veterinary care for homeless animals and rescued strays. You should definitely try. And it never hurts to bring the kitten with you. After everybody gets done squealing and oohhing and ahhing at the sight of the cute little kitten, someone is guaranteed to get you inexpensive help. Also, bear in mind that it takes about 2 dosages of deworming to kill all of them. One at around 2 weeks and another at around 6 weeks. A kitten checkup should cost no more than $30. If you ask 3 friends to lend you $10 for a good cause, that might help you out as well. Kittens have weak immune systems so it's really a good idea to get them an overall checkup. You don't have to get all of the immunizations now (which will add up in $$$) but you can get a general health checkup to help eliminate easily correctible health problems that will cost you more money down the road if left untreated. Good luck!

PS - DO NOT FEED YOUR KITTEN GARLIC! Garlic and onions are toxic to cats and dogs because sulfoxides and disulfides found in them can damage red blood cells and lead to anemia.
I don't know of any homemade cure. But you sould take that kiten to the vet. ASAP!
look at wal mart. i think they have stuff for that . not as expensive as vet. that may do till you can get the money for a vet visit.
The vet may sell you the dewormer w/o an examination if you explain your financial plight. Dewormer isn't expensive. especially to save your baby!

Best of luck.
i have found over the counter stuff not to work, the kitten needs to see a vet, if you are jobless and are broke, why are you trying to get pregnant?
You really need to get the kitten to a vet, you have done well so far but there is NOTHING over the counter that will get rid of the worms!

Go to your local humane society and see if they will donate you the wormer and explain the situation and they may be willing to help you if you make a donation at a later time when you have work.

WHY would you keep this animal if you can not afford to give it proper care?? It is not fair to the kitten, you need to find a home for him with people who can actually give him the care that he needs. How are you going to feed him and get his shots??

The humane society will be willing to help, since they would rather help you then take the kitten themselves. Too many of the shelters are over-run with homeless cats. Make sure you get him fixed ASAP to stop the cycle of strays.

AND further more why would you complain and not take care of this cat when you are trying to have another child? How are you going to pay for all that medical care. You have a 3 year old child, yet can not afford to take care of a stray kitten? How are you taking care of your 3 yr old human or are you another one of "those" who live off of the system and make the rest of us tax payers foot the bill?? You are off of birth control, so use that money and get the kitten taken care of and be a responsible adult!!
It's just not possible to avoid the vet with a kitten. He needs shots too and testing for FIV and leukemia. You are going to have to neuter him in a few months too.

His life is threatened by these worms. There just isn't a home-made cure. It either wouldn't work or could harm him.

".the new generation of worm medicines available to veterinarians as safer, less toxic, and more effective than previous products." "Worms tend to be hard to treat naturally."
"Be wary of store-bought chemical dewormers. They are generally older products and may contain very potent chemicals, including toluene, an organophosphate. I have seen animals die of liver failure on this. Other dewormers may be purgatives that get rid of the worms but cause cramps for twelve hours. They are too harsh."

You did a great thing to take on this little guy and I know your heart is in the right place and you will do what's best for him. You might ask a veterinarian if you could work cleaning cages or feeding animals and cleaning etc. They usually have a hard time finding people for the weekends where cats and dogs are boarded.

That way you could work off your bill. Some veterinarians might even take the kitten and find him another home. Many do really care about animals and have kind hearts.

If you have to give up the kitten at least you will know you did your best for him. He needs to have someone who can provide him with a healthy life.

I have read some of the other posts. Stop with the garlic it won't work and may make him anemic. I would borrow the money from your bf as the kitten needs the medication right now. Try the humane society. That might be a go. See if a vet would give you the wormer -- that wouldn't be expensive if he will do it. Sounds like you just have too much on your plate to take on another cat.
unfortunately the vet is the only way to go
get the poor thing to the vet.
