Kitten food?

My kitten is about 10-12 weeks old. I have him on Purina Kitten Chow and he seems to poop it out as soon as he eats it. He does not have diarrhea or loose stools, he just poops a lot, and I am concerned that he may not be getting enough nourishment from the food. What is the best brand of food to be feeding him?
Answers:
nurto max, wellness, felidae, professional or chicken soup brand.
all of these foods will maximize nutrition and produce less stool and a healthy longer lived kitty.
It's normal, kittens use the bathroom a lot.
Purina, Science Diet, and Iams are all but poison. Read "Foods Pets Die For" by Ann N Martin if you don't believe me. You will be shocked and amazed!
Look into better quality foods. Good ones include: Artemis, California Natural, Felidae, and Wellness.
Good Luck
I feed my pets a food that was made by a guy who quotes, " I woulndt feed my pet what I wouldnt feed my kids" its called pet promise. You can get it at many health food or organic food grocery. and if maybe he just has an upset tummy get some cat grass. always settles there bellies. I have 3 picky sweethearts.they all have diff issues. much luck to you and your kitten :) no iams tho www.iamscruelty.com
Science Diet dry for Kittens is best. It's not grocery store quality, it's a real upgrade :) It's available at PetCo and PetSmart etc. A less expensive option would be Authority for Kittens (available at PetSmart)

In addition to the dry food (which should be available 24/7) and fresh water (also 24/7) you should give the kitten wet food for kittens twice each day (about 1/2 of a 3oz can/pouch each time) For wet food, also choose high quality canned or pouch food made especially for kittens.

Some brands to consider for wet food would be Science Diet, Authority, Natural Choice, Nutro Max Cat, Iams, Purina Pro Plan and Eukanuba. Make sure you only get the once specially formulated for kittens. Our kittens especially like the stuff that's chunks and slices in gravy :)

If changing food doesn't work, take kitty to the vet. Some kitties get worms that can change their bowel habits, but some kitties just eat a lot and poop a lot. Our two poop so much we scoop the box twice a day and get a bag full each time!

When kitty turns one year old, you can gradually switch from kitten food to adult food. The same brands would apply.
Definitely Nutro. It is more expensive but it is the best.
natural choice complete care indoor kitten formula

i feed my kittens Science Diet kitten original they like it and yes your kittens will boop alot. Oh and if they are loose it is because they put DHA in it, it like mothers milk. They love the food and very active kittens.
Both vegriot and Bonsylar are right. What's the kitten to do with all that unnurtrious and unnatural corn in his diet? He knows to poop it out as it is worthless to his body.

Cats are obligate carnivores are require a high level of meat protein in their diets. There are eight grades of corn too and if you think Purina puts the highest grades of that in their cat food, think again. It is all about cheap and corporate bottom lines. Purina puts more money into their advertising than the ingredients which go in their pet foods.

You might take time to read Dr. Jean Hovfe's article, "Selecting a Good Commercial Pet Food" for general guidelines in choosing a food for your kitten. Her article can be read at: wwwlittlebigcat.com. The articles are in alphabetical order.

You will not find a good food in a grocery store. My pet discount store is carrying Natural Balance and Wellness. Otherwise you will find the best foods at small, owner-operated pet stores in your area. After you have read Dr. Hovfe's article you will be learning to read labels on bags and cans (male cats need canned food) and can select what you feel is best. "Kitten" food is not necessary, all the premium foods have high quality protein and other fine ingredients to help your baby grown to be a healthy and well-nourished cat.
This also happened with my kittens with Purina. If you look at the ingredients the first one is Chicken By Products which means all the leftovers from the chicken ground up.

I switched to Nutro Kitten food. I also have found in farm and grain stores good natural foods for kittens. I look for the ones that do not contain any animal by products. They are more expensive, but while they are growing they need good nutrition. Also, the pooping, well my male kitten is 5 months and goes all the time. My 7 months female does not.
Bonsylr is right Purina is awful, dont feed your cat that crap. I give my cats Natural balance they love it. Your cat probably isnt getting enough nutrience from Purina try switching to a better more expensive food
