looking for a free cat to good home?

Answers:
go to petfinder.com.this is a site for rescue groups.just enter your Zip code, and be AMAZED at how many great choices you have !!.i adopted a Great Pyrenees mix from them, and my dog Sylvester is awesome !!.check it out.try it.do a good deed.adopt a cat today !.good luck to you, in your search for a cat as a new pet !!
try the pound if you get one there you will be saving one or maybe the local newspaper or try call a local animal clinic sometimes people give the Kittens to give away or post signs on animal clinics doors
a good home wouldnt take "free" cats - a good home would go to the shelter and adopt a cat - because free cats generally cost more in the long run - and a good home is smart enough to know that.
For one thing a free cat isn't really a good idea you should take it to the vet get it checked out to make sure its healthy, The vet than will charge you for needed shots, and spayed or neuter. If you adopt from a shelter you are more likely to get a healthy cat, who has been fixed, with the required shots, and possibly 2 free vet visits. ( thats at least what one shelter gave me when I adopted a cat ) you also should consider all the needed food and supply costs to care for a cat which isn't free. Before adopting a " free" cat consider all the other things that cost money .
idk..but mah kitty was on petfinders.com %26 she costed $$$! i didn't find her on petfinders till day after we filled her adoption applications. Then she was at the "adopted" section already. ,..u can get a FREE kitty from ppl u know r if any of ur family, friends or their friends know any1 who had a pregnant kitty-they might give u 1 for free. But even if the cat is free u still have to pay for spay/vaccinations/rabies %26 other health related..Also, i heard it's NOT best to get1 from the store.Good luck %26 u should def get1, they're worth it!:)

looking for a co formerly known as Safe & Sure that made a flea shampoo called de-flea/California Special?

THIS WAS A FANTASTIC SHAMPOO %26 WAS REALLY A VERY SAFE SHAMPOO TO USE ON CATS %26 KITTENS - PERSIAN CATS ARE VERY SENSITIVE TO FLEA TREATMENTS. I WAS ABLE TO FIND THE NEW NAME OF THE COMPANY SEVERAL MONTH AGO BUT LOST THE INFO WHEN MY COMPUTER CRASHED - PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS ANYONE OUT THERE THAT KNOWS THE NEW NAME OF THE COMPANY OR THE WEBSITE
Answers:
I don't think they make it anymore, because all of the sites that I've searched are giving me the same thing:
http://www.dec.state.ny.us/website/ohms/.

there were a number of court hearings about this product, so I'm assuming that something happened, and that they aren't going to make it anymore. I didn't read through the whole, thing, but you should, it might help.
Never heard of this shampoo, but as a persian breeder, i cannot recommend using Advantage highly enough. You get it from the vet. If you have a small kitten, and are worried about using the full amount, figure 1 drop per pound.
Also, another good tip..Dandruff shampoo contains pyroxetene, the active ingredient if flea dips. Use Head and Shoulders for routine baths on kitty for a little extra boost.

Looking for A calico kitten in San Jose California?

Looking for buddy for my cat, but a kitten.
My husband %26 Son cat is Meow Meow, a stray kitten, but now is an adult cat.
Anyone recomend or is selling a calico cat in my area
Answers:
Hi there.consider also searching through Craigslist in the Bay Area: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pet/. or other northern California regions: http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/ca.

Look under the Community section and the subsection Pets
www.petfinder.org - you can look for cats by color and location, I think that would be your best bet.
post a free ad in http://www.postaroo.com I gave away my dog and there are always people doing this kind of thing. and the best part is it is free. Good luck**
Go to or call a pet shelter in your area. They either will tell you one is there or keep your name
I strongly suggest you visit your local shelter. I guarantee you they will have plenty of calicos from which to choose. Additionally, the cat will likely already be spayed or neutered and may have its first round of shots. All for a very reasonable price. Get a buddy, save a life. Everyone wins.

looking for a all white house cat in my area?

Answers:
Go to http://www.petfinder.com and do a search for shelter cats in your area and surrounding ones. Try your local paper, and search for your county's animal control on the web. Our county lists the animals in the shelter on their website.

Good luck!
what is your area?
Need more info - is this a lost cat - which city - etc
Check in on PetSmart. They have rescue cats. I got a beautiful white persian there. He is the Major Domo of the house! Wishing you the best of luck in your search.
petfinder is your best bet. Try it.
I was going to recommend Petfinder.com or Petsmart but I see they've already been recommended by others. You can also try Petco. The cats that both Petsmart and Petco sponsor are from shelters in the general vicinity of the store.

Any of these services will ask that you complete an adoption application, and some may ask to do a home visit to ensure the environment is appropriate.

Please don't disregard adult or older cats. They are often even better pets than a kitten because they have already been trained to use a litter box, scratching post, etc. Plus you have a better idea of their personality and you can be sure that you can accommodate any little quirks they may have. Be sure to ask the history of the cat you're planning to adopt and try to talk to someone who has actually cared for him/her to learn more about its personality.

We have an all white cat, Boogie, that has been with us since he was about 8 weeks old. He's 13 now and very sweet. He and our other four babies are our kids and we're very fortunate to them them in our lives.

Lookin for a loveable kitten to bring home?

Try any of these sites. You can search for kittens by your city name or zip code to find ones close to you.

You should look at http://petfinder.com . You can search by area, breed, sex, etc. You can find them all ages and sometimes there are even free pets on there. Also try your local shelters.
Go to the animal shelter.

look heres the deal, my uncle got me a kitten and heres the probblem I dont know anything about it exept that

it is the coler gray, white and orange and when I said I dont know anything about it I meant it right now Im feeding it I think is cowes milk and Im verry worried that it might get sick im all ready hearng grummgles coming out of it and it is sneazig and Im verry woried please help! I cant buy my kitten any thing plase please please please help please??! just give me some words of anvice ????!!.
Answers:
Don't give him cow's milk. He should be eating kitten food. It sounds like he might have an upper respiratory infection as well because of the sneezing. If he doesn't get better soon he should see a vet.
There should be kitten food at any grocery you go to for it. It depends on how old it is though. But if your uncle gave you it, it should be old enough to eat food on it's own. You just give small amounts and watch it carefully.
how old is it? it may have been taken from it's mom too soon, you need to take it to the vet.
and do not feed it cows milk! Petco/Petsmart has cans of kitten formula you need to feed it that has the proper vitimins and nourishment it needs. Cows milk is NOT good for kittens!
It will die if you continue to give it cows milk or any other kind of milk. It needs cat food. Baked chicken is better. DO NOT give it milk. If it's not at least 2 months old, give it back.
The kitten needs to go to the vet. If you can not afford to care for the little thing, call your local cat shelter. The sneezing could be distemper and that is very serious. Please take it to the vet!!
well then you need to tell your uncle that he needs to bring you some kitten milk from the pet dept at walmart because it cant drink regular human's milk.you will need to make it a litter box if you have a box that it can get into and shred up some newspapers you need to really find a home for the kitten of someone who can care properly for the poor thing you will end up killing it if you dont know what you are doing
Why aren't your parents helping you with the kitty?

If it is sneazing you definatly need to get it to the vet..it is sick, and don't be surprised when you see it with diareah.expect that if you hear the rumblings..the cows milk is hurting it's tummy.
I have just got a 6 month old kitten a week ago.

I feed it: Whiskas Kitten Pouches (These are found in nearly all supermarkets %26 come in different flavours) I feed the kitten 3 times a day. I also give the kitten water.

I have bought it: A scratching post, a bed, litter tray %26 scoop %26 balls with bells in the middle. (These can me bought at any pet shop and do come reasonably cheap)

If you cannot afford to buy it a scratching post, try wrapping string around a a pole.
For a bed place a few warm blankents in a cardboard box.
For toys use Kitchen foil scrunched into a ball or stockings with some newspaper stuffed inside at the bottom

If you had to pick one thing to buy make sure its the litter tray etc just so it doesn't poo on your floor.

Lastly make sure you give your cat loads of love and cuddles.

Hope I have helped

long haired white cats?

Why do people love long haired white cats so much? Whats wrong with long haired black cats? And why do they cost so much?
Answers:
Probably personal preferance. In some cultures black cats are seen as bad luck and in other cultures they are seen as good luck. Sorry, but I have no answer for the white long hair cats question, I had a white long hair, I did not choose her because of her color, I loved her personality.
Maybe it has something to do with angel softness and puffy clouds or something. Personally, I don't see the attraction of all that hair all over the house. Not to mention yakked up on your pillow in the middle of the night.
But that's just me. Go figure.
Don't get me wrong, I love cats. Short haired cats, any color, doesn't matter to me.
One time I had an potential adopter come into the shelter saying "I want an older, long-haired black cat". It was all I could do to keep from leaping up and down and embracing them!

I am hoping to get a long-haired white cat, 15 years old, who has been abandoned at a boarding facility here for six months now. He is a real doll, gets along with other cats and looks to be in very good shape. If he comes to live with me I hope he won't mind being brushed and combed so he doesn't get mats.
all cats are wonderful.check petsmart or your local newspaper
First of all, cat people don't discriminate! I've had both, black and white. I now have a white cat. They were free, expect for the spaying cost and vet expenses. Your local shelter has a lot of kittens, black, white, short hair, long hair, all at a very reasonable cost to you. Just don't forget to spay or neuter!
If you go to your local animal shelter you'll find long haired, short haired, white, black, orange, siamese pointed ect all for the same price and they come with the added bonus, you can say you saved his life!
not sure.. me personally i don;t like long haired cats to much.. i mean they are pretty but i just don;t like all that hair.. me i have a pure white short hair cat and i really want a pure black short hair cat.

Long haired cat and cleanliness problem?

My oldest daughter Summer is a long haired cat. I mean SUPER fluffy. Like a big fluff ball. Anyhoo.. once in awhile when she takes a poo, a piece of poo will stick to her butt hair. She absolutely won't let me anywhere near her butt to trim the hair. What can I do? I hate finding turds in the house because they stuck to her butt.
Answers:
I have a long haired cat as well.He drives me crazy because the litter gets stuck in the hair on his paws and then onto my furniture..You should take her to a vet or a groomer, get her a bath, and have them trim the hair short, very short. I like vets better because they know more about what they are doing. Most vets will groom as well. Try to find a cat vet. I have a vet tha is for only cats and it is great they are all cat lovers!
Take her to a groomer. I really don't see any other way around it. If she won't let YOU near her butt, you should enlist the help of a person trained in animal grooming. Especially since that's just a wee bit unhygienic.
I'm not sure, most of mine run away from me.
THE CAT IS YOUR DAUGHTER? OK, WELL TAKE HER TO A GROOMER TO SHAVE THE BUT HAIR EVERY 6 MONTHS OR SO ?
If you can't trim the butt hair. take the cat to a groomer. They will be more experienced in butt grooming %26lt;grin>.
get a dog you know what dogs do when they go poo, they lick their butt, probably wouldnt mind extra meal
Take her to a groomers. Or get your vet to do a quick trim of her anal area.
Seems to me that when the stick to the fur it's because the sandbox is not clean and she's afraid to sit for a second before exiting. Could also be the food she's given is not greasy enough to let it go.

Every few months I experience the situation you suggested. I'm not that young yet I can still tackle my cat before she gets too far into the livingroom. I take a good hold of her and carry her like a baby to the bathroom, close the door. run some warm water with one drop of joy dishwashing solution in the water.(this is why you have to regularly trim her nails otherwise you'll get all scratched up) and dunk her butt into the sink and the warm water loosens the mess. I use an old towel to wipe off the water. Then I throw the turd into the potty, clean the sink and spray it with lysol, and leave her in the bathroom till she dries off. Then I clean the rug with woolite foam spray where I remembered she drew her line. Doing it this way is a lot safer than having the vet shave her back side. I had a cat once who had that problem, the vet shaved her and she bit him, and he hauled off and smacked her and broke the cat's jaw. Have fun.

live cougars/mountian lions in your area! watch out!?

no joke
Answers:
Yes, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India--there was a mountain lion spotted living on our property! We do have to watch out!
Okay, Chicken Little, what is your question?
there's one that roams around where i work.niiiice kitty.
and what are would that be??
yes all of Vancouver Islander's should be on the lookout for cougers..and children in rural areas should be walked to school with an adult present
what are you talking about i live in hawaii
I live on a street that backs up on open space. In the last two years almost all the outdoor cats have "disappeared". I suspect there is a coyote (CA) who is availing itself of the "free lunch".

We do have some outdoor cats that are still around. The young cat next door was hit by a car. Fortunately he is OK. I don't know where he roams and I definitely told the neighbor to keep him inside after dark.
YES in Chariton Iowa, as the people in charge of the enviroment actually brought some in to "balance" nature-- didn't tell us for a few years though! I think they did it due to coyotes. Now outside pets have to battle both. I noticed the last few years that fox are living in town and feel this is due to the cougars/coyotes. Glad i live in town. So for us, this is TRUE!

Little red bumps on kittens stomach?

I thought they might be nipples.but they go all the way up on his chest, where its more covered by fur?Not alot, just maybe 8 random bumps. Of course I'm takin him to the vet, but has anyone expierenced this? Or know what it could possibly be or sign of?

Thanks
Answers:
They still may be nipples. Since kittens are small they look like they are covering the whole chest but as he gets bigger they will centralized to one area. If the kitten is constantly scratching in that area it could be tics or fleas.
Still Worried? Take him to the vet. He'll need to go anyway for his shots.
Nipples. they do go all the way up.
i hope it's just skin disease, nothing internal. what did the vet say?
i think there nipples but you should still take him to the vet if there in really random places
good luck
I think so

LIttle Kitten flea sprays?

There was a stray cat that was outside who had a batch of four kittens. We have taken the one that was smallest in trying to get her fixed up. We seemed to remove all the fleas and larvi via bath but on her face what I am guessing is flea larvi. It looks like little white specs which seem to be moving if you look very close. My posts from yesterday seem to point to flea larvi. I am just concerned what I can put on her head to get rid of them.

We are unable to bring the kitten/s to a vet as of yet. So over the counter is only methd possible as of this week. Anythinng that is better than nothing.
Answers:
Uh hun that's not flea larva that's fly larva.maggots.. Guess I should give more info. A lot of times on stray puppies/kittens the gyp is sick or decomensated from lack of nutrition and does not get the newborns cleaned properly, anyway the flies will lay eggs and it only takes about 24 hours for them to hatch. Try just washing the area really well with baby shampoo. I would use gloves but that's just me personally as the only thing that really bothers me as in YUCK is maggots.
ask the vet if you can use anything on newborn kittens until they can safely make it see a vet
I would use a wash cloth and try to wipe her face down as much as you can. If she is really that tiny, then there isn't much you can use in the way of insecticides on her that won't hurt her.

You might try wiping a bit of Avon Skin So Soft over her face with a damp cloth. it repels flies and mosquitoes in pople and they recommend it for human babies. It's worth a try anyhoo!

Good luck and thanks for being a protector of bitty things!
i would go to a pet store. and look for kitten flea dip. they have it. good luck. and thats so nice of you to take the kitten in. so it will have a home.
call your local animal clinic, they should be able to give you some advice.
give her a bath in lemon dish soap becareful not to get it in her eyes.
I went through the same thing last year. Mama cat, who was wild then, had four kittens. I kept her and took the kittens to a lady who does all the stuff before people adopt them. When I went to her house to see how they were doing, she was putting a spray of frontline on them. I asked her why she wasn't putting just the frontline on them. That's a product the stores have in single doses for cats and dogs. She said the kittens were too young to handle that much of a dose. But they sell it in a spray for pups and kittens. So I would suggest you try to get some of that because it not only takes care of the fleas and the larvae, it also takes care of the ticks. I live in a wooded area and the ticks are the worst. I have 5 cats and the stuff works as soon as it's put on. Good luck and thanks for taking care of our little creatures.
I rescued and bottle fed 2 kittens that were 2 weeks old when I got them. They had fleas pretty bad. beause of the young age, chemicals are not safe. Our vet recommended a natural spray, it is called 'DE FLEA' Pet %26 Area Spray. It kills the fleas on contact, and young kittens have to be rinsed thouroughly with water after use. I got it at a small independant pet store, it was $11.99. Just be sure to get something that uses natural substances and not poisons. This stuff is great. Check it out

www.naturalchemistry.com
Flea meds of any kind are for kittens 8 weeks and older. If you do it younger than that theres a good chance of them dying. Take them to a vet! If theyre strays and you dont plan on keeping them, 99% of vets will not charge you! How hard is it to call and ask?
I'd call the vet to see what's safe for a kitten. Most flea treatments available in pet stores don't really do the job. I'd try to get to the vet ASAP and get a prescription for Frontline or Advantage; when I adopted my cat as a 4-month-old kitten, she was riddled with fleas and that's what the vet recommended (in half doses). There are kitten-safe flea shampoos, too, but I got mine from the vet, so I think that's the only way it might be available.

If there are indead fleas or some other kind of bug, wash %26lt;i>everything%26lt;/i>: all of your bedding, any blankets that hang out on the couch, etc., and see if you can find cleansers for your couch cushions and any carpeting. The fleas will keep coming back if you don't get them out of those areas.
Here is something cheap and easy. Take a baby wipe and get it damp in warm water. Wipe gently at the kittens face. Also are you making sure she/he is eating enough? If it is not even a lb in weight you need to make sure they are eating plenty!

Litterbox problems?

My kitten, who is now 5 months old, usually has no problems using the litter box. However, every once in a while (about once a week), she will go over to my leather sofa and urinate on it. There doesn't seem to be a pattern for her behavior. This morning, for example, she pooped in the box, then about 5 minutes later ran over to the sofa and urniated there. I cleaned up the poop immediately, by the way. I am at a loss of what to do.
Answers:
This is most likely caused by one of two things:
1) If she's not spayed, she may be "marking her territory". Although that's more typical of males, some females also spray, especially when they are in season.
2) Urinary Tract Infection. Cats have no way to let us know other than by inappropriate elimination. Call the vet to see if you should bring in a urine sample for testing.

Some of the behavioral suggestions for training her are good, so I won't reinvent the wheel here.

Good Luck!!
go to your local pet store or vets office and ask for a spray they have that detours animals from going where there not suppose to
your kittin is marking it's territory you need to either teach it not to do this and or get it fixed as fixed cats have less tendency to mark their territory
How many litter boxes do you have? If only one try adding a second. There is a product to get the smell out called zero odor. you can purchase this online. It was a little expensive, but it works.
If she is always peeing in the same spot you really have to get the smell completley out. Let her know it's not ok for her to go there, catching her is key. Pick her up and tell her NO and put her in her litter box. Once this happens it can be hard to break. You should bring her to your Vet if you can, urine infections can cause a cat to act this way. But if it is behavoiral, then you just have to stay on top of it.
you said she, so it's a female? Male cats are more apt to "mark" their territory, but females can too. do you have any other cats? If so, there is likely a problem of sharing the litter box. I had to get another box when I had two cats. If there is a spray that works to prevent cats from urinating in certain places, that would be great. Just check to see if there is an "after-odor" unpleasant for humans too! Also, kittens can learn changed behavior. Try using a rolled-up news paper (never use your hand) and slightly tap the kitten (preferably on the snout) with the paper when she urinates on the sofa. That might just work.
Good Luck!
We had a similar problem with our kitten, he use to urinate on the carpet.
What I did was, Pick him up, put his nose into it , just a little, and said NO ! In a stern voice. The placed him back in the litter box until he go the picture.

Remember, Cats and Dogs, can hear things a couple of more times louder than we can, and will easily pick up that you are upset.

Good Luck
how offten do you clean your tray? A cat will not go into a dirty litter box try cleaning it 4 times a week and scooping it out every night that should help

Litterbox help? Please advise.?

OK鈥鈥檝e got four cats, Rory, Emerald, Alice and Trixie. They each have their own litter box, as my vet advised in case of illnesses. My problem is that the cost of continuously throwing out the litterboxes when they are full is prohibitive. My girlfriend argued with me that most people simply clean out the boxes and refill them with litter. Is she right? I鈥檝e never heard of such nonsense. It makes me shiver in disgust to even think of putting my hands in the box to empty the poop and pee. The cost of buying new litter boxes every second or third day is expensive, to say the least. I have spent over $1,000 in the last four months. How can people stand running their hands through this disgusting stuff? Yuck!
Answers:
Of course you throw out the litter box; you're girlfriend is just a freak. I find a great way around keeping up with new litterboxes for my two cats is by buying children's wading pools and placing them strategically around my home. THey last for months before needing emptied and cost about the same as a regular litter box. And when company comes over, they can double as little beach themes for parties. And the best part is that by the time they all need replacing, my lease is up, I move without notice and never have to even TOUCH them! It's a brilliant plan.
Your girlfriend is very much right. you don't actually take your hands and physically pick up the waste! You can either get clumping litter and a little scoop to just scoop out the mess (you don't touch it) or just get cheap litter and dump the contents of the box into a trash bag and the rinse it out in your sink or outside with a garden hose. If cleaning the litter box is such an issue than get the littermaid box - it does the cleaning for you!
I throw out the litter and replace it .you can buy liners for your cat pans or use plastic garbage sacks which makes cleaning up easier..or get a litter maid which then all the refuse is put in a bag for you and you just have to throw that away. There is no need to keep throwing away litter pans every few days
You sir, are a twit.
Stores sell scoops for this particular issue. And if cat poop is this repulsive to you---skip out on having kids. Replacing THEM every time they fill a diaper is cost prohibitive and time consuming.
First you use a pooper scooper and get good clumping litter. Like arm and hammer multiple cats. That's crazy buying litter boxes left and right. When you see a turd or clump of pee use the scoop put in a platic baggie and throw away. Adda little more fresh litter and you're good to go. I clean my cats box out everyday with scoop and put fresh litter in once a week. IT DOESN'T STINK and if you keep on it you shouldn't have a problem.GOOD LUCK!
Buy clumping pine cat litter. As for it at your local pet store. Also, buy a catlitter shovel, as for it at your local pet store.

Clean the boxes twice a day, in the morning and at night.

Wash your hands every time you handle cat litter or even your cats.

Its a responsibility and if your not up to the task, you have no right owning animals.
use litter box liners plastic baggies
change the cat litter and wash the box
buy a scooper
Use scoopable litter and a litter box scoop.

Wow! Your girlfriend must be with you for your money! Obviously she isn't with you for your intelligence! What a woman!
You throw out 4 litter boxes every few days?! Are you joking? All you need to do is clean them out. You don't use your hands, they have scoops with handles for that. Just scoop the poop every day, and then maybe every couple of weeks dump out the old litter, clean the boxes, and put new litter in them.
Love your kitties, love their poop.
Never heard anyone throwing out a litterbox. just pick it up and dump it into a garbage bag.
You don't use your hands, you use a litter scoop. You can get one in anywhere pet supplies are sold. If you get clumping cat litter, everything can be lifted neatly out. There are even some that are safe to flush down the toilet - although I would be wary about using them if you have a septic system.
gad zooks, how have you survived this long??

Okay, go to a pet store.look where the cat stuff is.get a litter scoop. The metal ones are better in my mind.it is a sifter-like utensil with a long handle. I use scoopable litter %26 paper lunch bags.
I scoop every day or so %26 put the scopped waste in a bag. I close the bag %26 put it in the *outside* trash.

Every six months or so, empty all the litter into the outside trash %26 rinse %26 clean the box out.use rubber gloves %26 soap %26 water..

You have wasted so much money because you don't pay attention! Why do you think they call it scoopable litter??
With the money you save maybe you can go to school %26 learn more..
what I used to do with my cat is line the litter box with a garbage bag and then put the litter in the box and when ever it got dirty we would just changed it. I also used gloves too that way I wouldn't contaminate my hand.
This has GOT to be a joke. No human being can be THIS stupid. Right?.Right?!
Wow that's really wasteful. It's called a pooper scooper so you don't have to touch the poop, duh! They make cat box liners too so even you don't want to scoop poop you could just throw away the liner when it gets full instead of the whole box! Suck it up, be a man and deal with it.
Your a guy right? Quit being a puss and empty the litter! You are seriously going to waste your money because you can't change your cat's *?!! Everyone i know changes their cat's litter. Not buys them a new litter box.
first off, you have got to be kidding us.
If your gf told you to clean the litter box, surely she told you of this ingenious device called a litter box scooper.
(look mom, no hands.)
also, if you really have never saved a litter box, or used cat sand, the scoop sand they have out now is excellent for the use in which it is intended .
They also have in pet shops, a self-cleaning cat box. If you have spent as much money as you say on this problem, then the cost of a self-cleaning litter box is a drop in the bucket, and will be a very satisfying addition to your pet care supplies.
get a plastic litter box and a litter scooper and scoop out the waste and add new litter when you need to and then maybe every week or everyother week or so do a full litter change.
Your girlfriend is smart. You clean it out instead of throwing it away. You don't stick your hand in it though. Your local pet store should have a litter scoop. Invest in that. It's about 5 bucks.

litter tray for old cat?

our cat is 17 years old and has never used a litter tray.recently she has been doing the odd pee around the house even though she still goes out in the garden. do you think that if we got a litter tray she would use it ?
Answers:
Try it. Can't do any harm.
probably, they're pretty fastidious cats and they seem to feel (rightly) guilty when they pee places they shouldn't.

Just don't get clumping cat litter as it is basically cement and can be terribly bad for them.
No - has she started getting incontinence? She is old. I have a young cat who has always used a litter tray %26 I caught him crapping in the garden today!
You can try it, it can't hurt. Cats are pretty smart. You might want to put some of your cat's droppings in the litter box so that cat associates the box with going to the bathroom.
yes, cat's are usually clean animals. Poor kitty is old though maybe she Will forget
Most likely, yes, unless it's a serious health issue. If you catch her peeing somewhere in the house, pick her up and gently place her in the box, while quietly praising her. She'll get it.
Being that old, you will probably have a tough time.If you do try, put something similar to what she has been using (dirt/garden material) in the tray and gradually change to litter.
i think he is just one of those diffrent animals who really have no explination for what they do.try it maby it will work??!!..
It sounds like you might need to try to let her out more frequently, (Although I am sure that you have thought about that already.) Frequent urination can also be a symptom of bladder problems and diabetes. You might want to take the old girl in for a check up.
She might.

But know that a change in pee habits can also indicate a urinary tract infection or other problem - which cats (yes, even girl cats), are prone to.

Have her given a once over by a vet just to make sure.
you can only try she might be doing this now due to her age id get the cat seen by the vet to make sure she was ok and encorage use of the tray especially through the chilly months, good luck
Good Luck! Have her checked for a Vet to see how her Kidneys and bladder are doing. If no internal problems try Companion Animal Communicator to sort it out. Cover pee spots with urine eliminator so the smell does not attract repeat behavior.
I would say so, but use soil/earth instead of cat litter as she is used to doing it outside.
wont hurt to try
I think it's very possible your cat may have a urinary tract infection. they're fairly common, especially in old cats but the only way to figure out if thats true means a vet visit. they'll give your cat a good head to toe exam and then look at a urine sample. if infection is present they'll give you some anti biotics. if infection is NOT the case your vet will have some good ideas about how to get your kitty used to using a cat box. I don't think your cat would object too much to using one it'll just take a little time and training.
I'd try it. Get a couple and put them in places where you know she goes in the house then gradually move the trays to where you'd prefer them to be. I'd also clean the areas she's been peeing in properly (with a solution from the vets or pet shop) because sometimes there is a scent left behind that stimulates her to pee there again.

Old cats do need a bit of patience, mine was terrible for having wee accidents, and you will probably have to watch her and clean the trays out often as they get quite picky about that!
the best thing i can thick of i is take her to the vet
Hello, I have had cats all my life %26 I believe if you buy a large litter box %26 put her in it, that she would start using it. One other thing, have you brought in another cat or animal? Because they will sometimes start marking their spots in a house if a new pet arrives, even if the other pet is an outside pet. Hope this helps. Best regards, nmcjane
She might not know how to use a litter tray now, you could try it, and if you do, make sure you put it in the same spot all the time! Or just make sure she goes out like every other hour!
Hope you find out the right anwer!
Bestest Luck!!

Is she out at night? Not good for a cat that age. We "seniors" are still going strong and all our facilities are somewhat diminished by age -- quickness of movement, hearing, vision, etc.
So she is in more danger at night now than when she was younger. My brother and his wife lost their cat that way. I think she was just not up to getting away from a coyote.

We old folks all have to pee more frequently than when we were younger so maybe she can't go all night if she is in the house without relieving herself.

I would get a box and confine her to the bathroom for a few nights and I think she will start to use the box.

I have a 22 yr old cat who lived all her life totally outside until she came to me at age fifteen. She drinks a lot of water and has always used litterboxes in my house. She was very ill when I got her and was placed in a warm, cozy bathroom with a soft rug, her food and water and a litterbox.
Definately. You could try putting some soil from outside in it at first, then mixing the soil with some cat litter and gradually reduce the amount of soil. This old cat may be a little forgetful and us oldies suffer incontinence you know :0)
What a nice considerate cat owner you sound. Good on you for putting your pet first.
probably not because she's so old and used to her old ways.
you cant teach an old dog new tricks, which probably applies to cats aswell.
it's possible..put one where she goes most often.

it wouldn't hurt.
I had the same problem a year ago my cat was 20 and of course hadn't used a litter tray since she was a kitten, what I did was instead of using cat litter from the pet shop I used earth out of the garden and found it worked well, you can start adding cat litter to it bit by bit so she gets used to it gradually.
Good luck
yes she will use it. Cats love to burry there poop and pee they know it smells as well. Bye the way well done your cat is a great age you most be doing something right
Hi. you could try her the poor old love, she's used to going outside in the garden.
Now our two Tabbys girls,if you put a different cat litter in the tray they will not use it at all.
You can try her, good luck.
go for it cant do any harm
Ah bless her. She might.Good luck.

litter problems.?

Okay i have 6 cats. 5 are kittens about 6 months old. and the other is an adult, there all litter trained. but recently they dont use there litter box that much. there litter box is alwayse clean and nothing about it has changed, but they just dont use it at all. if anyone knows what could be causing this please help me?
Answers:
Inappropriate urination is the most common and least acceptable behavioral problem seen in cats. There are a variety of reasons that a cat may stop using its litter box, including both medical and environmental changes.

Have your cat examined by a vet and possibly have some test done. Medical caused of inappropriate urination in cats can include diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, hyperthyroidism, urinary tract infections, urinary crystals or stones, constipation, senility and bone/joint problems.

If medical problems have been ruled out or cured, then environmental modification or medication may be required. Problems can include:

1. Territorial conflict in a multiple cat home. Sometimes a dominant cat will even attack a subordinate cat in the litter box.

2. Cats often refuse to use a dirty litter box.

3. They may not like the location, size and/or the type of litter box (covered vs. open).

4. Changes in a routine such as different people in the home, a move, or new animals can cause stress for your cat.

Try multiple cat boxes and change the litter more frequently.
You cannot just have one litter box for 6 cats. Ideally, there should be one more litter box than there are cats. That means that if you have 6 cats, you should have 7 litter boxes. One is not enough. Regardless of whether or not it gets cleaned every day. Six cats/kittens will produce a lot of waste. If a cat is in the box and another needs to go, the second cat might go somewhere else rather than wait for the "bathroom" to be free. You need to address this problem immediately because once a cat pees outside the box, the others might follow. The scent of urine is difficult to get rid of and the cats might associate that spot with an okay place to go to the bathroom.
if you have 6 cats, you need a minimum of 6 cat pans, preferably 8. the general rule of thumb, i believe is 1 box per cat per household. good luck.
you need more than one litter box

Litter box training?

I just got a new kitten about 3 days ago, and he will NOT go to the bathroom in the litter box. I've tried keeping him in there, and he just sits there. Also, everytime he goes in the floor, I put it in the box, so that he learns that's where he's supposed to go. He gets in it, scratches around and gets out. I've never had a cat that didn't already know what a litter box was for! What do I do!?
Answers:
there is a litter they sell at Petsmart called Doctor Eksleys Cat Attract litter, it has a pheremone or something that attracts them to the box. Ive used it with tons of foster kittens and have had 100% success. Plus its guaranteed to work or they refund your money, but i assure you its gonna work. Good luck!
1. clean thoroughly the place where he has peed. He must not be able to smell wee at all.
2. place him in the litter when you see him looking for a place to go, not when he already has done it.
3. when he hasn't done the thing for a while, just closet yourself with him and the litter in a small room (like a bathroom), so you will be able to watch him and put him in the litterbox when he starts to show signs (smelling around, scratching at the floor, crouching).
4. Whenever he does it in the litterbox, praise him a lot, even give him a food treat. He has to learn that the litterbox is where you want him to do it.

I think there are some great articles on litterbox training at http://www.perfectpaws.com and http://www.catsinternational.org.

I also think you should not allow your dogs to eat poop, from anywhere! Just don't! Whenever there is poop in the litterbox, just scoop it out and don't let them have time to get at it! That is good, because cats also love clean litterboxes.

I know that some diseases are transferred between animals when an animal eats another animal's poo. (I know that's what happens for humans to catch toxoplasmosis from their cats, for example). You are right, though - there are very few diseases that get across from cat to dog (and vice versa). It's just not good practice, I think - next time they can take a fancy to the stool of a sick dog, and if they know you allow them to.
I also know it's not plausible to watch the litterbox 24/7. But, if you feed your cat on a regular schedule (like, morning and evening), the poop will come out the other end about as regularly - you can observe your cat about feeding times and find out about when he poops, and just pick out the stools immediately and not bother wondering what will happen to them.
you just need to keep bringing your kitten to the litter box (how old is your kitty?) I have trained my kittens from the very first day I take them home regardless of what the shelters might say. When she pees on the floor tell her no and bring her to the litter box make sure it's a quiet place for her to relieve herself without interruptions. Also if she looks like she's about to go pick her up and bring her to the box immediately and tellher what a good girl she is

Litter Box Problems?

I have a 1/2 bath was was placed under a stair well. So as you walk in to the left is a sink and to right is a toilet. Well behind the toilet is about 4 feet of free space. Well after I first moved it, I used this space as a place to keep the littler boxes for my cats. Well I guess I had let the box get to full or something, but they had 'accidents' on the bathroom floor. So I had to move the boxes(aren't allowed in the bathroom) but I would like to move them back to the bathroom, where they are out of the way. But I am afraid that they will continue to use the floor instead of their box, since they smell their poop on the floor. Is there anything that I can use to put over the floor, so they wont smell it or use to clean the floor. They are hardwood so I can't use bleach and by the look of it, I'm not to totally sure they are sealed.. I would really like to be able to put the boxes back, but afriad that I will be cleaning up more poop from the floor than their boxes. Please help.

We had a similar problem. I'm not sure this is workable for you, but it did do the trick for us:

--We bought one of those odor-eliminating products from a pet store (you'll think I'm joking, but I really do think it was called "Bad Cat"!) We used that several times in a row, to eliminate the odor as completely as possible. Then, once the area was completely dry, we put the wicker dirty-clothes hamper (but you could use any object that will not strike a cat as a comfy place to sit) in the spot where the "accidents" were happening.

--Then, over a period of about a week, we moved the litter box from the place where it had been, to the place we wanted to move it to--moving it just 6 inches or so per day.

It was a pain for a little while, because the box was somewhat in the way during that time, but our cat has gotten used to the new spot and we've had no more "accidents". We were eventually able to move the clothes hamper from that spot, too.

Good luck.
..
try viniger to get the smell out and keep the litter boxes in one place it can be confusing for them
Cats and litter box problems is an issue that needs to be handled immediately upon knowledge of any problems!!
The most common issue in a multiple cat household and litter box problems is not providing enough litter box's throughout the house! Many people do not realize that cats usually prefer their own in their own spot so 5 cats can need 5 separate boxes!
Cats are VERY territorial! If they smell urine on the floor or even where a cat had an accident 5 years ago, many will try to remark their territory! There is many products available that say they completely remove any trace of "accidents" however I have found that none of them really work! I have known some people to use them and think they work with their one cat, and then get another and it didn't! In moving the box back to the bathroom, you can sure try! However still keep the other box where it is! If you are providing enough box's, then after consistent use of the new location you can try to take the other away however if problems arise, put it back right away! The best rule to apply with cats and their litter box's is if one thing works, DON'T MESS WITH IT! Litter box problems can most of the time result in having to rip up and replace carpet, padding, and also sanding down and redoing the hardwood floor!
Vinegar is definitely the way to go, %26 buy a small can of polyeurathane to paint the bathroom floor. This is colorless, and will protect the floor from the worst the cats can dish out. And Lady Heather is right, moving the boxes around will confuse them, so make this the last move if you can.
Hmmm, i have a question for you. did your cats have super dirty litter boxes when the "accidents" occurred ? If so then it is almost safe to say that its a one time deal. If the have continued to have accidents with a clean litter box then not so easy. I would clean the floors really good with products for hardwood floors then i would wax on and not wax off :) several times to get a "seal/ thick" coating to keep the floors from harm. Different kitty litter might put them off so think back. did ya change their favorite? And hey i would rather have them go on the hardwood of the bathroom than the carpet in my front room or the fluffy down comforter on my bed. might be me. also its a possibility that they are holding a grunge or may be sick
Try Nature's Miracle - it helps eradicate the smell. The bad news is, if they can still smell their poop, they may continue the habit.
Is there an outlet in your 1/2 bath? Maybe you should consider getting a self-cleaning litter box. This way, if and when you go out of town again, you won't have to worry about accidents.
We have 4 cats, one being elderly and she misses the box alot because of her age. I'd say try cleaning the area with alot of bleach, let it dry completely, then put down a thick plastic on the floor, in as large an area as you can.they sell thick plastic sheeting at home improvement stores, then on top of the plastic, several layers of newspapers.then on the papers, in the center put the litterbox. If they miss the box, you just throw away that layer of newspaper..and it never gets on the actual floor.
This is what we had to do cus the cat is 18 years old and training her isn't the issue, but we still want the floor to stay clean.
Good luck with the kitties!

Litter box blues?

I have 2 female cats who are about a year old. They have no trouble using the litter box, however sometimes they neglect to cover it up. I've tried using different amounts of litter, different brands, and even changing it more often. What can I do?
Answers:
It's said, that you should have 1 litterbox per cat. Because they can be picky, about what is in their box, and who it came from. But either way, you shouldn't be concerned, atleast they are still using the litterbox.
nothing. they do not like sharing a box. they are doing that to mark their territory.
it's perfectly normal. the more cats, the more issues
They leave their stuff uncovered so they can mark their territory. You might try getting a second box, other than that, it's just a normal thing and you gotta scoop it.
You should get two litter boxes with covers on them. Cats are private for one thing and territorial and they don't like sharing a litter box. use hard clumping litter! Good luck!
tell them to cover it up. my cat will if I tell her to. lol
Probably nothing. Most cats bury and but some don't. My oldest never was much for burying his poo.

Liter box training my kittens?

Hello everyone and thank you for all of your responses in advance,
I have 5 week old kittens. Lately I've been going into basement (there room) and I've been finding the cat's are having accidents. I've filled a shoe box lid with liter and put it in the spot where the first accident was but they are still having occasional accidents. What can I do to help?
Answers:
Cats are really good at learning things, when i train my kittens, if there is an accident i show them (without rubbing their nose in-it) tell them NO or bad and place them in the box(try not to get impatient with the kittens you don't want to make them afraid of you), some times you have to repeat this little process for a day or so, but if they cannot help it, you may be feeding them the wrong food, allot of people don't know that cat food with seafood in it can make the cats have diarrhea, and/or gas, it doesn't matter if its hard or soft foods.
tapping the kittens nose when it does something wrong helps at times too, they don't like that much!
First off you need to make sure they can get into the box. Maybe make a little ramp for them. I would also put a piece or to of their poop in the box, then put them in the box. Maybe they will see and smell it and get the idea. But after you do that I would clean up (very well) where they have already messed in the floor. Hope this helps!
Just Leave Your Cats To Work It Out Bye Them Selfs.
Begin by confining then to a smaller area then you have them in now. Put several different litter boxes down for them to use in that smaller space. Make sure that after you Feed them, pet them or handle them in any way you put them down in a litter box. As they begin to use the litter box's you can increase their space and see if they are still having accidents. They will get it.You just have to be consistent and patient.

Good Luck
I have raised over 40 cats in my life. Here's what I do: watch the kitten when it's ready to poop. As it starts to go, gently pick it up BY THE SCRUFF OF THE NECK like it's mother does, and place it in the box while telling it what a good kitty it is. Make encouraging sounds so it doesn't think it's being punished. If you catch it in time, it'll continue pooping in the box. The reason for picking up by the scruff is to simulate it's mother's handling. If you reach under it's belly, this can cause the bowels to compress, causeing a messy accident. Cats are very instinctive, and usually require no box training; they usually just know what it's for, and use it.
Good luck!
Cats like to 'relive' themselves in soft thick dirt because they like to cover it up for many reasons. The best thing to do is make sure that they have at least an inch and a half of the kitty litter and make sure you keep it clean. They will usually train them selves, but this doesn't mean that they won't have other accidents. There kittens, there not going to get it right every time! Have TONS of fun with your new kitties!! The best of luck! (o:
Your litter shoe box is too small. Use a larger box. I go to Home
Depot and buy a cement mixing pan they are cheap only about
4.95 to $5.00. Change the brand of litter you are using and
change often.
take each kitten to the litter box, calmly put them in it and move their front paws back and forth a couple times, they will get the message that this is where they go to the bathroom.. i do not know how many kittens you have but 2 kittens per box is standard. and clean daily.. have fun with your babies..

listless cat?

for the past week my cat has been refusing to go out unless he needs the toilet, his appetite is not the same(as he normally eats anything)and he just seems depressed. is this possible and what could have caused this?
Answers:
He might be depressed as well as now is getting colder, so he just prefers to stay indoors .
Have it checked for worms
Cats can get depressed, but not very often. Has he lost a playmate or has something changed around the house? Maybe he is feeling neglegted. Take him to the vet because he could be sick.
He might have hairball ,you better take him to the vet and have him checked out !
Take him to the vet. He may be quite ill.

Have you perhaps lost another cat or pet recently that your cat was very friendly with? If so, he could just be pining for his friend. In that case, just be really supportive and loving until he feels a bit more perky.
have you been away and left your cat for a longer period of time than usual cos my parents' dog tends to get really moody and depresed when they come back from a holiday. If not it may be ill and perhaps you should consult your vet.
Maybe he has a hairball. I would take him to the vet if you think he is not acting right.
My cat has had to have 3 of her back teeth out this made her as you have explained above. She doesnt have sweets only tinned stuff and munchies? I was puzzled when the vet said it was her teeth. Shes 100% now. :)
Firstly, take him to the vets for a check-up.

Secondly, he may have had a fright - near miss with a car, something like that. Give him/her lots of love and attention and please get him/her checked over.
well,if its bad weather outside,he is just depressed and needs some reassuring.
my dog gets very sad when its cold outside and just lies around all day.
if you think he might be showing signs of illness, ring your vet!
good luck! : )
this is very possible, and you should take your cat to your regular vet, has the cat lost weight, is it lame, is there any vomiting, does the cat eat mice, has the cat been loosing hair, does it have a fever? These are things that an in-person exam can help to determine what is wrong with your cat, blood work will likely give you even more answers, this may be as simple as an abcess or as complicated as heart failure, but without having the cat looked at by a vet, you are only going to get 'guesses' on the internet. Diagnosis is very important so that you can do the very best thing for your cat.
Vet sharpish.
Take it to the vet!
please take your cat to the vet. When cats are sick the first sign is that they don't eat and become listless, loose interest in everything. Cats will not show any pain even if it hurts alot. Its a survival thing that if you show any weakness you become lunch.
my cat is exactly the same, he would rather use the litter tray inside than go out,i have to pull him off the settee to feed him,we thought next doors dog had scared him but when he went off his food we took him 2 the vets and he has got either a gum infection or a bad tooth,so get him checked out, he could be in pain.
make sure your cat has not got worms, if not ring the vet
How old is he? He may be in pain or just getting old, or he may have an infection. Take him to the vet if he stops eating for more than 2 days or drinking water for more than 24hrs.

Liquid nutrition for cats?

My oldest cat is right around 20 years old. Throughout his whole life, we have had to deal with tooth and gum problems. Last spring, we finally had to have his last two teeth (canines) removed, because we simply could not get rid of the chronic gingivitis. Eating can be a challenge for him now, but he does pretty well with the food I give him (the Whiskas pouches with lots of gravy, etc.) and he does choose to eat dry food at times. Yet I feel like I could be getting him some better nutrition. He does not like the ground/pate type foods. Any thoughts on a liquid supplement, or something to help him eat healthier?
Answers:
"Nutri-Cal" (it's for cats and dogs).. it comes in a tube, you squeeze it out and you can simply just stick it in your cat's mouth. I sometimes put it where my cats' mouths are and they lick it off. I don't think it would affect your kitty's teeth in any way, though I'm not 100% positive. The box reads: "Quality nutrition energizer for picky eaters, High calorie palatable supplement!" There's calcium, protein, and plenty of vitamins in the ingredients. My aunt has given it to her eighteen year old Siamese and that beautiful cat still can attack, I'll tell ya. She got me the other day. I hope your cat lives for years to come!
There is a sauce that you can buy to put on dry food. It will make it softer for him and add a bit more nutrition to his diet. I dont remember the name of it, but they would have it at a pet store. Also, ask your vet what he or she thinks can be done for the kitty.
From the book cited below:

"How to find a Nutritionally Oriented Veterinarian"

Contact the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, 2214 Old Emmorton Rd., Bel Air MD 21015 (phone 410-569-0795).

I have had no luck pulling anything on the web as a way to contact them. So you would have to write or phone.
i used to give my baby kittens a cat milk made by whiskas and mix it with the gravy from the pouched foods it made them put weight on

LIFE OR DEATH URGENCY! What do I do?

My cat has given birth to 7 dead kittens and she still has more inside of her. It took her at least 30 minutes to a hour for her to deliver each one and they all came out backwards (feet first). Please anyone tell me what I should do. I've tried to revive the kittens but that didnm't work. And I was told that I might have to put her to sleep while shes still giving birth. Im not even sure if the kittens still in her are even alive. Please someone, anyone what do I do?
Answers:
Sounds like she needs to be taken to local vet and have them help her finish the delivery. I never heard of the actual cat having to be put to sleep because of it though. Although I'd keep an eye on her emotional for awhile.
TAKE HER TO THE VET ASAP!!
VET!! now..Go.
Please, please take her to the vet!
You need a vet, pretty fast
you should contact a vet
This is something that needs to be handled by a veterinarian. Get her there RIGHT AWAY!
same thing happened to me take her to the vet.
Call the vet. Take her now to a animal hospital. Don't know what else to say. I'm so sorry for you and the cat and the kittens. That is aweful..hugs to you.
The only thing that makes sense is to go to the vet asap! Why make her suffer?

PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED ON THE RESULTS? I really hope everything worked out ok. Someone mentioned taking a TAXI TO GET HER TO THE VET~I HOPE YOUR FRIEND FOLLOWED THROUGH ON THIS!
IT SOUNDS LIKE SHE'S IN AWFUL PAIN!
Call your vet and rush the cat in
Take her and the kittens to the vet! Like YESTERDAY!

And GOOD LUCK!
Take her to the Vet, get off the computer and go go go! We can't do anything for you!
instead of wasting time typing out this question, the smart thing would have been to IMMEDIATELY contact your vet.
Get her to a vet, moron!
Take her to the vet.definately.something is not okay with her or her babies.
Take her to the vet. Man that is scary. Poor Cat. I hope she is all right, and that all the other kittens live.
She needs a veterinarian, maybe even a hysterectomy. That is too many kittens and she's exhausted from the birthing.
VET PLZ!
as not to sound like a broken record. do the obvious.
VET!
I had a cat I adopted named Raven who gave birth to one live kitten but had 3 more inside her.

I rushed her to the vet and they delivered the dead kittens, spayed her and saved her life.

Don't waste anymore time. Take her in to a vet NOW
I hope you're back from the vet and all is well!

What a shock. My heart breaks for you and the mom kittie.
should have taken her alot earlier to the vet instead of doing this!!
Take her to an emergency animal hospital.
have her call a cab to take her to the vet.
7 is a hell uva lot of baby kitties!! if you can't get her to a vet i don't know what u can do..
i helped a cat give birth, i just stroked her tummy gently as she lay on her side, she only had 4 kittens though, 2 came out backwards, but all were alive.
IF one starts coming through stroke her as she pushes, the sooner she gets them out the more chance she has of living, otherwise there isnt a lot u can do. your frined is going to have to move the cat, making sure to support her from her middle and her head. there is no other way.
Please find some way of getting to the vet maybe a neighbour or the person how wrote the message please???
the last thing you should do is touch them because the mother wont like because of the sent you leave so i would just leave her to it

Let me clarify.I am looking for a high kill shelter near Marietta, GA because I want to adopt a cat, but I?

want to go to a place where the cats really need help. If I just go to a regular shelter then of course I will be giving a cat a good home which is great but if I don't adopt from a regular shelter then those cats most likely won't be put down. I hate seeing innocen t cats being put down which is why I want to adopt an adult cat from a high kill shelter.
Answers:
There are MANY cats in desperate need of a home near you.

Here's a list of shelters in GA:
http://muttcats.com/shelters/georgia.htm.

Thanks for rescuing!
I don't live near Georgia, but I admire your motives. Good luck.
Ahhh, ok. Sorry, but some people ask some really sick questions on here.

You should check your local animal control, if you haven't already. I know our old county's animal control only used to keep the animals for 2-4 weeks before putting them down. But our local Humane Society used to rescue the cats from there whenever they could. So there's an idea; if you have any no-kill shelters around, call them and ask. They'll definitely know where the high-kill shelters are.

Leaving the cats for few days?

I know this prob is a bad idea, but suppose I was to leave for work for few days and I dont have anyone to watch over my cats, can they survive on their own ? if leave them some food, and a clean litter ?

I've gone off for 10 days this last time. It IS the last time, too. I cut out the side of Stimpy's large DeliCat food jug ,cut the top half off two 1gal. jugs of bottled water and she was fine. I on the other hand was miserable. Cats are VERY independent. Does that help? It would be better if a friend could stop by though.
Lotsa food %26 water %26 I think they will be ok.Do they usually get into mischief? Maybe leave a radio on low too.And a timer for your lights.Set the heat at a comfortable setting.Do you know %26 trust someone that can stop in %26 check on them?
and lots of water
the longest that I have left my cats with out bording them was 3 days. I have two so they keep each other company. I set out an extra litter pan and extra food and water.
Its not a problem for a few days leave plenty of food and water for them and change their litter box. However, be prepared for their attitude when you return they won't be happy with you for a few days.
I do it occasionally in the summer when we go away for the weekend, all I do is make sure they have clean litter, lots of food and water. Cats pretty much take care of themselves, they'll be fine.
You are BAD!.jusk kidding.

I've had to go for a long weekend (3 days) and I left two bowls of food and two bowls of water..and a clean litter box and my two cats were fine.

Best case, get a friend to check on them. Worse case, leave plenty of food and water.
how many days are we talking? 2 or 3, I wouldn't leave them any longer than that. make sure to close off room with anything valuable in them, sometimes when pets are left by them selves they think they are being punished and they like to get revenge. It would also be a good idea to turn on the television to keep them company.
if you can help it, don't. they have a tendancy to eat all their food within the first day. it's a survial instintinc. then they puke. it's ugly.
Three days max and make sure someone else has a key in case anything happened, so they could get in and clean up and put in fresh food %26 water. Also leave the Vet's office number by the phone - ya never know! Someone said leave the radio on a little bit for a little noise, that's cool, but not too loud.
Maybe put out an extra kitty litter bin, so they have two instead of one (if the one gets too dirty, you know how they like to go everywhere else in the house). Cats are pretty good at taking care of themselves, so just leave out tons of food and toooons of water and they will take care of themselves. Cats moderate how they eat too, just put out enough. Or a ton, and whatever they don't eat put back after. Better more than not enough!
yes they can! leave them lots of water, food and maybe get another litter box so there are 2 clean ones.alot of cats don't like to use a dirty box! make sure there isn't anything dangerous for them to get into
yes, for just a few days. Leave lots of extra water and food.investing in an extra litterbox wouldn't be a bad idea either just so the one you have doesn't get overly nasty.
Yeah, cat's are pretty independant,
unless your feeding them or pampering them,

But anyways, they should be fine if you leave PLENY of food, and even more water.
But don't be suprised if you get home and they have left a few suprises for you.
My cats will do that if I leave them for 8 hours.
I used to do it during the weekend when I went out of town and she was fine. I had one of those auto feeders and auto waterers. She was seriously lonely though. It costs about $10-$15 a day to have someone come and visit. I sometimes hired a cat visitor and felt much better about leaving her for a few days. Also, I had friends come by to sit and watch T.V. and keep the cats company. It wasn't too much trouble for the friend since all they were doing was sitting and hanging out, but I think the cats appreciate having someone there.
Yes, they can survive but you'll need to stock up on supplies for them. You'll need to buy a auto-waterer (2 if you have more than 1 cat), auto-feeder (2 if you have more than 1 cat), 2 litter boxes full of litter and a good friend to check up on them once per day. Make sure you close all closet doors securely to ensure they don't get stuck in them and prop interior doors open. My cat once found a way to lock herself in the bathroom. :(
It's not that bad being that it is just a couple of days.

I would make sure to put totally fresh litter in their box, and invest in those automatic feeders. They're a good way to conserve the food for them. It just gives them a little at a time and you can put tons of food and water in those things. They sell them at all the pet stores.like Petsmart and Petco and stores like that. They are not expensive either.
They should be fine. We left ours for almost 4 days once, though I don't think I'd try that with a single cat. They were very angry when we got back, but fine physically. We had a feeder with a timer, so one meal's worth of food opened up every twelve hours and a large self-waterer. We also bought and filled an extra litter box, thinking they'd shun the regular one if it got too icky, but instead they used the regular one and shunned the new one, go figure. I'd leave the TV or radio on for them for company.
Several bowls of clean water %26 dry food for a few days, lots!
If you can get a hold of another litter box, do that too, so they have plenty of "area". Find all their toys, or get them a new one.
They will be fine, they just might be a bit more bored without you there at night, hence the toys. That is the beauty of cats!
I strongly suggest you don't do this. Cats a very finicky eaters, You don't want them searching for other food that might make them sick. People have the idea that cats can be left alone for long pierods of time since you don't have to take them out to walk. I personally have three cats and NEVER leave them alone longer then 12 hours. Its similar to humans, would you eat 3 days old food thats been left out for you? My sister left her cats alone once (I personally took the initive and went to feed them at her house, as I saw this cruel). Within a couple days they had NO food and not enough water (water was almost gone). Water will evaporate and leave a very small amount of water behind. Cats will eat as long as their is food in front of them, which means they will get ALL the food when you leave it down. I would strongly suggest you find a safe boarding house for them. Just because they don't require walks doesn't mean you can leave them for days. Hope this helps and you find a place to board your kitties! If you need more info you can ask your vet, I am sure he will tell you the exact thing!
They will be fine I would leave extra water and food then normal and if you have never left them before you may come back to an accident. We did this with ours but did have a friend come by but one got upset and sick at it's stomach.
Yes, they will be fine. I just left my cats alone for 3 days when I stayed with my family for Thanksgiving. Cats are great because they are so independent and can be left alone for a few days as long as they have adequate amounts of food, water and a clean litterbox. Your cats will be just fine alone for a few days, they will miss you I am sure but they will be OK.

PS Ellie is on crack!! It is NOT cruel to leave your cats alone for a while. if you are leaving for more than 3 days then yes get someone to stop in and check but if it is only a few days they are fine. Geez she makes it sound like cats didnt survive for millions of years on thier own in the wild, they are still capable of as much today having only been domesticated for 4000 years and cat food has only been around for about 50 years before that kitty ate the mice in the barn and did just fine.. and cats will not eat all the food you leave out for them, obviously it is impossible for them to eat that much at one time, just make sure to have a bunch of food put out for them and if you are worried about water "evaporating" put a cup in the sink and leave the tap on at a drizzle. If you fill several dishes with water around the house it will not all dissappear in a few days.
What's a "few" days? I'd personally never leave my cats alone for more than two.

You can always find someone to watch your cats.ever hear of pet sitters?
Go on http://www.pet-sitters.biz/ and look one up by zip code.

Your cats will be a lot better off if someone comes in every day to check on them, give them fresh food and water, and clean their litter. Pet sitters can also bring in the mail and turn the lights on to make it look like someone is home.
It should not be a problem for leaving your cat for a few days. The only things you want to make sure you do is leave them enough food and water. Also make sure you clean out there litter box before you go. Cats actually take care of them selves most time.
I think it would be fine but hey will be mad when you get back. If they tend to spill their water it may not be a good idea though. One of my cats plays with the water and spills it all the time so we fill it a few times a day.
You know, most vets have staff that do house sitting. Most love the extra work and would be delighted to check on your pets for a small fee.

Although people do leave clean litter boxes, tons of water and tons of food and chance it, they often forget a few basic things- cats can pig out and eat all the food in a day or so.. and then have none. They can spill water or it can get gross.and then they have none.
They can over eat, and then vomit, and make themselves sick enough to need a vet.

You are right, it's not really a good idea- call a few vet offices and meet a few people who will check on your cats, take in your mail and let you do what you need to do without worrying all night about your critters.
The longest I have left my cats has been 2 days, would have a friend of neighbor check on them once if it is longer or if you just want them to get some attention. If your cats eat canned food, I usually put a can on a plate and then freeze it the night before I leave and put it out the morning I leave. I feed them some regular (unfrozen) can food the morning I leave and leave LOTS of dry plus the frozen can which thaws later that night or the next day. If I give them too much can food..they will just gobble it up in one sitting and not have any the next day, so the freezing part really helps!
For two to three days tops i would say yes, if your cats are on dry food and you usually leave it out all the time, most cats regulate what they eat, i would leave out however much you would normally feed them in those 2-3 days and then double it, just in case. As for water what i foudn works best is to put out a large bowl of water, plus i leave the tap on a faucet dripping for fresh water. It would be a good idea to have someone come in and check on them once a day, but i've left my cat for up to 3 days with no problems.
Yes, a couple days is fine. Leave food in a few different bowls, and more importantly water. Put water in a contained that you are SURE cannot be knocked over (we use a glass baking pan that is heavy bottomed)>

Leaving my cats, Can't stop crying?

I have 2 kittens taht are about 3 and a half months old. I have to move because i have benn offerd a GREAT job and i can not take them.
I have found them a great home and they are going to stay together.
I have soo much guilt for leaving them and i can't stop crying. I need to know that cats will move on and will be ok. It would be great to know that they don't care where they are as long as they are together and happy. but i can't just make this up if it's not true.

please help me by telling me if they will be ok?
Answers:
Ohhh, I so feel for you! Dont feel bad, you have made the best decision for all of you. You've found them a great home, they are staying together, and they're going to be really happy! I know this sounds a bit harsh, but at least you only had them a little while, so they wont miss you too much. Please don't feel bad, I think you're a really good parent! Very responsible! You did the best you could. I know how hard it is, as I emmigrated from South Africa to the UK a couple of years ago, and I couldnt bring my hooligans with me, so I found them a great home on a farm, but it was the hardest thing I ever did! They will so be ok, so go get a HUGE bar of chocolate and a glass of wine, and start feeling better about yourself that you're a great parent and you did what was best for your kitties!x
If you found them a great home, they will be ok! They will miss you, but they'll get lots of love and attention in their new home. I understand why you're upset, but really - they're going to be fine. Thank you for finding them a home and not abandoning them.
Your mind will only be at peace if you have given them to a very good home. They will adjust as you will. It will take time though.
I thinkit is true that they will be happy as long as they are fed and have a nice, caring owner. They are really young, so they should adjust. I think it's great that you were able to find them a home where they can stay together. I have two boy cats and they are not even really littermates, but they love each other so much.

It is hard to give a pet up, and I don't blame you for being sad. Just keep in touch with the owner if you can to check on them periodically.
its true that they will move on because they are still kittens they might feel your absence for some time but then they'll be ok and PLEASE don't be guilty because some people actually leave their pets rather than go through the trouble of giving them away to a nice family and home you as person have done your best provided them with a house a family who can feed them and take care of them rather than give them away to an adoption center them and that is what matters and please don't be guilty because you have done your part and you should be proud of yourself for doing that not guilty
You have done a great job in placing them together in a good home. They will do just fine so don't fret about it.

And good luck in your new job. May you have many wonderful kitties in your future when you are settled.
why cant you once you get there ?? Have the person take care of them till you get a place that you can have them . then pay for them to be shipped. or come back and get them . Do you know for sure in a few months you wont be living in a place that you can have them .. that is what I would do ..( things could change. ) I took a persian in the car from fla to Los ANgles. and yeah that was hard but hey .. I loved that cat. Put them on standby. you wont regret it then yor not loosing them .
They will be loved. and that should help you a lot.
It will be ok! By the sounds of it, you're a very concered and conscientious pet owner and as such, I imagine you've made sure their new home is a good one. Cats are funny because as much as they love certain people and as much as they pretend not to love others, they're not as solitary as they like to lead us on. They're still very young and will adapt to the new home quickly and with some proper loving and care, they will grow to love their new home and much as they old one. What's better is at least they still have each other. Chin up! There will most assuredly be future opportunities for raising more kitties. As for the ones you had to leave, I have a good feeling that they'll be just fine.
they will be OK 'its good they get to stay together; you did good finding them a home .some would of just dropped them off at the pound.cats adjust pretty quick to new people their young they will forget and move on;good luck with the new job.
They will be just fine. You will miss them a lot for a while. But they will be fine. They're kittens, they move on quickly. But thank you very much for finding them a home, and not just leaving them at an animal shelter.
I know the feeling. Believe me, they'll be ok. Kittens adapt to their new environment fast.
as a child I had a male and a female cat every time they had kittens which was often we never wanted to let them go but they turned out okay. we had the 2 cats for 9 years and then I had to let them go. The place that I moved would not allow pets. Turns out that the person that got them ended up working at my place of employment.
He got them from his mother 2 years after I gave them up and they are doing fine. Healthy, happy, and playful. Although their hair looks bad, but they are old

Leaveing my little kitten at home. What can I do to make sure he will be alright?ALL IDEAS.?

I'm going to disneyland in three weeks with my boyfriend and family for my 19th birthday. I'm going to leave him in my room , unpluging everything to make sure he wont get hurt. I dont want him to be alone . He gets sad and cries for me. What can I do to help him not feel that way. Thank you.
Answers:
awwww. you sound so much like me when i am going out and leaving my cat alone for many many hours.

You have the right notion:
1) put him in your room with door and windows securely shut
2) take everything that is unsafe out of the room
3) leave a low-watt light on for when it gets dark
4) make surelitter tray is clean
5) leave plenty of fresh water and food - away from the kitty litter tray
6) leave some of your (worn unlaundered) clothing on your bed to give kitty reassurance that you are still around though he can't see you
7) before you leave, tell kitty that you will be back "in a little little while" and give him a kiss and hug

When you come back at midnight, you'll probably find kitty wither curled up on your bed asleep or your room torn to shreds! ha ha ha

Seriously, your kitty will be FINE
Leave him with lot's of food and water.
There are many things to do,to make your cats not so lonely. You can try and get a couple toys for him to play with.If you can find the right toy, theres a good chance that kitty will forget about you.You can also try to get a playmate for him..Its only for a day,so maybe a neighbor can take him for a while *shrugs* Not sure though
Simply don't go.
I wouldn't worry about it.you got to leave the house at some point! I have a new kitten too (4 months) and I bought him plenty of toys to keep him busy. My kitty loves those little balls with the beads inside to bat around the room!
if it is a kitten, it will sleep most of the time anyways! you might want to leave the radio on at a low volume just to make it feel like someone else is there. If it is just for one day, it will be fine!
This would be a good time to work with him to prepare him to be alone for longer periods of time. Just spend lots of time with him, giving him lots of love, before you leave and immediately when you get back. He will stop crying for you after a few minutes. Just remember that cats are used to being alone for a full day or even longer. I have three cats and they are home alone all day and on the weekends.
IF YOUR GOING TO BE HOME EVERY NIGHT THEN HE SHOULD BE FINE TRY THE SHIRT THING IT COULDN'T HURT IF YOUR GOING FOR 3 WEEKS THAT IS WAY TO LONG WHAT ABOUT THE LITTER BOX VERY UNSANITARY FOR HIM DO YOU HAVE ANY FRIENDS THAT COULD WATCH HIM OR EVEN CHECK ON HIM THAT YOU TRUST COMPLETELY? GOOD LUCK
Get a family member to stay with him or take him home with them he wont be lonley he will get fed and he'll have some one to play with.
I foster a lot of abandoned kittens. My fav is to leave a dial faced clock that "tic tocs". The kitty loves the sound, it is very rhythmic and it never gets louder or softer. Also because it runs of batteries there is no worry about cords. I think your great for being so caring!
The thing about the shirt will help him, if he is attached to you your scent will calm him down. Make sure you leave ALOT of food and water, because he might think he is just getting feed and try to eat it all at one time.
that should be fine for a day, stat doing that now when you leave the house for a few hours at a time so it's not a shock. don't forget toys and a litter box!
First - Happy Birthday!
2nd, Yes the shirt thing does help a lot. (shoes do not hurt either, since the sent would be more predominant. Also, leave a tick-tock clock wrapped up in a blanket-towel - it will remind him of a soothing heartbeat.
He will be totally fine. Leave him some of his toys, and your nightie on the bed - or some things you wore the day before - especially a shirt. With food and water in something he can't tip over, and a litter box - he will do great. It's you that I'm worried about..

Leather or fabric couch for peeing kitty?

Hello,

I have a kitty who will some times go potty on the couch (both urination and defecation) and all medical, social, emotional issues have been resolved, so I have to live with it. Question is.is a fabric couch or leather couch better for clean up? I can take the cover off of the pillows and wash it and stick the whole big pillow in the shower to rinsh it off. Will a leather couch with leather protector on it clean easily?

Thanks!!
Answers:
I recommend a microfiber couch with stain-master. The stain-master coating guarantees that the urine will stay on the surface of the material, so it wipes up easily. The best part is if your couch is damaged, they deliver a new one, take away the old. I recommend the microfiber because cats are not interested in clawing the material, and it looks nice.
The leather will protect it but if you get a leather couch put plastic over it because the cat will be compelled to scratch, it is not a good idea for fabric at all because the urine and defication seep in and you can wash it yes but it also could leave traces behind that make your cat and even humans sick.
Definitely leather will clean up more easily, especially if you keep it well treated.
Vinyl or fabric with stainguard/master. Urine will bleach and discolor leather.
My cat went through a spell of doing this. He would do it at night or when no one was home. So, just covered the couch in aluminum foil at night and when I was gone. Once you get a few pieces the right size, it's easy to just fold it up and reuse it if kitty hasn't used it.He didn't like the foil, and stopped going there.

Maybe this will work. If not, at least it will keep the stuff off the couch.
Leather will clean up better, but either was its going to leave a smell so make sure you have a good cleaner handy

Lately, my cat has been meowing a lot..for no apparent reason.?

.she will sit and look at the wall (usually in a corner) and meow. She has food, water, and a clean litter box. Why is she doing this?
Answers:
Well, my first opinion would be.she's in heat. But then I started thinking about it. Animals are very aware of their surroundings. Living and non-living. She could be sensing or seeing ghosts or spirits. Especially if she is staring at one spot.
Either she wants to go outside or just horny. Cats need other things than food, water and a litter box.
Might be pregnant.
She wants attention! Pet her! Hold her!
She is cleary of the devil. Might I suggest duct tape- wrapped firmly around her evil furry little head.
LOL sound's like she is in heat .If she is at least 5 month's old, 99% of the time that is what it is.
it means that the cat is in heat
She is most likely in heat.
Maybe she's ill. Never heard of a cat doing anything like that. Think she could hear a mouse or something? I dunno. Good luck
get her some kind of toy with catnip in it. and play around with it with her. she needs attention.
Maybe she sees something there? Cats are weird like that. I don't mean to spook anyone out, but apparently they are able to sense/see certain things that we can't. Or maybe she hears a mouse or bug inside that wall? Or she's just plain gone nuts.
maybe she is in heat. my brother-in-laws cats do that when they are in heat. or maybe is just wanting a little more attention or would like a play mate.
Has she been "fixed." The place were we got our cat said she had been fixed. She did almost the same thing. Ops, they goofed, kitty still had all her plumbing. She got the operation, and has been fine since. Chow.
She wants to play Kitty, answers.Wow I have 1000? answers.Does this make it 1001?Here is a little attention for kitty鈾?.
I would say most likely she wants attention.
If she's not been fixed, she could be in heat. Unless she's a purebred that you plan to breed - getting her fixed might take care of the meowing, and make her happier all the way around.
If she's not desexed and it's spring wherever you are, she's in season and desperately wants a boyfriend. It's coming into spring here in Australia and my little one is doing the same thing. She's also running round and round the house, inside that is and is desperate to get outside after dark. Hormones do terrible things to all us females.
She might be in heat. I have a cat who, at less than a year old, used to almost literally howl every 4-6 weeks. Since she's a female, the myth still holds true: if you get females together, their periods synchronize. It always seemed that when I got my period, she would get hers.

I called the vet first to check and see what all this noise was, and the receptionist said she was probably in heat, so I took her and had her spayed. She didn't talk to me for the rest of the day after I picked her up from the doctor, she would turn her head as if to say, "You left me with that man and he hurt me!"

She healed up and she's fine now, and she doesn't howl anymore.

Call your vet first and have her checked out. If she's in heat, just have her spayed, and she'll be fine.
Is That The Cat I Met The Other Day? Hmmm I Wonder.
my cat does this at times too, I have no idea whats with him, maybe cats get bored too
She is probably in heat..
Maybe there is another cat outside.or if she's older, how's her eyesight? she may be meowing to bounce the sound back to her, kind of like sonar with bats.
The mouse in the wall thing is possible, too.
Your kitty might just be a "talker". My cat does it often enough - he goes into the bathroom and starts meowing very loudly. When I see it, I try to distract him, usually by calling his name and give him some attention (talk to him or pet him).
My cat does this ALL the time!! I have no idea, sometimes he wants outside. (He is indoors only) Or he wants to drink from the sink. You may want to get something to intertain her, She may be bored even if you already give her a lot.
Awww, maybe she is just a sucky wucky wanting attention like my baby .. or, she can see something and wants to chase it?

My Frosty will sit and stare sometimes, and when I get close to her, I will see a fluff floating in the air, or a little fly .. or a bird outside. My mighty little hunter doesn't miss a thing!

Lately I've been noticing the my cat doesn't have her lower tummy furr anymore?

shes 9, and the furr on her lower tummy used to be white but now you can see the pink skin part thats under the furr. I havent noticed any loose hair or anything. She just finished recovering from having a
sore infection on her face and the vet gave her an antibiotic, could this have something to do with it?
Answers:
I had an older cat with the same problem. The thing that worked for me was switching her food to something that would protect her from hairballs, like Meow Mix Hairball remedy. It doesn't really prevent hairballs from forming. It really just seems to help keep the cats fur from falling out, thus preventing hairballs. Switch foods give it about 2 weeks and you should see your cat retaining more of it's hair.
Maybe her belly is dragging on the ground.
Possibly, but more likely she's licked it off.

This is a common result of compulsive over-grooming and it can result from stress or. It's called psychogenic alopecia, and of you do a Google or Yahoo search for that term you'll get a gazillion hits.

My late great Rusty was bald on his tummy by the time he was five years old and he didn't seem to groom himself excessively, nor did he lead a stressful life. The fur on his belly was extremely fine and downey and it just wasn't robust enough to stand up under normal grooming. He actually groomed other parts of his body more, like his shoulders and flanks, and they didn't go bald. He lived out the rest of his life with a bald tummy and it didn't do him any harm.

If you kitty is over-grooming due to stress, it would be good to try and reduce her stress. Otherwise, it's probably not a big issue.

Edit: I just saw the comment about kitty's belly dragging on the ground and it reminded me of something else about Rusty. He had a somewhat rotund figure, especially when he was young, and when he went upstairs his tummy rubbed against the edges of the stairs. There was always a fringe of yellow cat fur on the edges of the carpeted stairs. I'm sure that was a factor in Rusty's tummy baldness.

Last year my 3yr old cat got a skin infection, scabby, bloody areas same time off yr bck again whys this ?

Answers:
Hi there, I have a four year old cat with just the same problem. I have read some of your answers already, and they seem to say what I was. However, I have found that a good household flea spray to use on your carpets and cat bedding, and it's favourite chair does help. I always spray just after my cat has gone out, so hopefully it does not smell anything when it returns. As awful as it sounds, fleas do get into carpets, and unless these are dealt with, no amount of treatment for your cat will work. Fleas can remain dormant for up to six months, or so I have been told, so carpets should be one of your lines of defence.
has it been de-flead?
could be a common flea allergy
one of mine gets really bad if he has one flea on him

if you think its a pain gettin frontline i have found a website on the net who sells em real cheap
my cat has same thing allergys take her to vet
could be a reaction to fleas..they are bad again this year, and some cats/dogs loose their fur, have skin infections, scratch themselves raw. you may want to take your cat to the vet to get a shot to calm down the itching and maybe some frontline, if you don't already have him/her on it. thankfully flea season is almost over.
It could have something to do with the weather or some kind of allergy to something that comes out in this certain w%26#92;time of year. You should take it to the vet, anyway.
It's dermatitis caused by fleas. My cat has suffered the same. You have to keep on top of the fleas to prevent it.
flea allergy
It might be fleas, but since you said its back around the same time it may be an allergy. Take the cat to the vet so that they can diagnose it and prescribe the proper medication.
Do you have very grassy areas near you. Every summer my cats get Harvest Mite infestations, these go where the fur is thinest so around the mouth, ears, nipples, between the toes and in the ears. They irritate the cat, so the cat scratches and they turn into bloody scabs, they can get infected as well.

You can usually tell if it is harvest mites, especially in the ears, because it will look like a clump of little orange dots.

It is easy to treat with flea treatments that contain fipronil, so Frontline or something. But if you use the frontline spot on, you have to make sure that some of the liquid actually touches the harvest mites so instead of putting it all on the back of the neck drip some on the infested areas and then put the rest on the back of the neck.

Hope this helps!
you might want to ask your vet
It is flea season. Check your cat for fleas by combing him with a flea comb. Then dunk the comb in soapy water to kill the fleas. If you come up with a ton of fleas and bloody-looking water, you need Frontline. It's very cheap online, and totally worth it.

Fleas can often make it look like your cat has a skin condition, when really they are just eaten up with parasites.
what does your vet say ?
sounds to me like a flea infection, my black cat has the same on his back, get your cat Frontline from the vet, its a bit pricy at 拢14. they will probably give you some cream. Best of luck
I assume you took your cat to the vet the last time this happened??Well, take him to the vet this time---vets know how to help animals who are suffering, and yours certainly is. He needs professional help, and needs it like NOW.
My first guess is its a flea allergy. Get some Advantage from your vet and deflea your kitty, he will thank you for it.
