Kitty bathroom issues?

Thanks to everyone who's offered such great advice on kitty-rearing. Here's an interesting one: A couple friends were outside on the balcony, they got up for a couple minutes, and when they returned there were three piles of kitty poop around one of the chairs. I wasn't home at the time. And it wasn't diarreah or anything strange. Any explanations? Thanks.

If the kitty is male it could be marking the territory against the "strangers". Your kitty should be neutered as soon as possible or you will have even worse territory marking. Neutering also prevents a host of medical problems.
Well, I can't say for sure. If someone who lived in the residence previously had their cat going to the bathroom out there, the cat may have smelled that and thought it was acceptable. Another idea is if the litter box was "too dirty" for its delicate sensibilities, it might have gone somewhere else.
Kitty is just being a kitty. No worry.
how the hell do you know it was kitty poop? does it have a certain taste?
are there cats in the home?
is the balcony and open one?
cat was pooping and walking at the same time.. or readjusted its position mid pinch.. I guess I am not sure what you want clarification on.
I'm no vet, but I think pooping on the floor, is a sign of a dying cat.
Well, your kitty ither doesn't like the person that was sitting in that chair or doesn't like how that person smelled. That is what i think!
