Kitten/cat help please?

Aren't you suppose to put your kitten nose right next the mess the made on the floor (potty mess) then scold them and put them in their litter box or does it tell them to keep going there on the floor instead of in the box?
Answers:
Unfortunitly you have to catch them in the act or they won't know why they are being punished. A good swat on the rump and sharp speaking did the trick for my Stimpy. LUCK an PATIENTS.
Teach them to use the toilet like I do
um, no. absolutley not. cats insinctivly will go in the cat box. make sure your cat knows where it is, even put her in it a few times, especially if it looks like she may have to go. She should be trained pretty much on her own to use it thereafter.
your diong the right thing when you rub his nose in it
well not realy wht you do when it gos on the rug/carpet or what ever you have is to tell her/him NO! pick it up put in bath tub for about 5min the first time next 10 and so on it allways wokks trust me! GOOD LUCK
With new cat or kitten you want to show them where there litter box is. If they don't know then they can't find it and won't use. So about every 5 to 10 minutes pick up your cat or put them on a leash and take them to there litter box. That is what my family for our new cats
It sometimes makes them upset. I wouldnt but I would watch her and when she looked like she was gonna go potty id put her in the litterbox. I wouldnt do what your doing though..
have you sat the Kitten in the Litter Box .. so they know where it is ? .. an Never scold them .. they will never trust you after that ..

good luck
The best thing to do is to pick up the mess and put it and the kitten in the litter box. The kitten will soon put it together. Also it natural for a cat to want to cover their mess. It can't do this on your carpet but it can in the box.

Putting its nose in it is a myth. The only thing the cat gets out of it is that your mad.

I have raised at least 6 cats in my life so I know.

The below information comes from the website listed at the end of the document.

Cats are naturally clean creatures. Teaching them to use the litter box encourages this inherent instinct. Most kittens and cats easily learn to use their litter box . and they will usually continue to use it unless it gets too dirty. Here are a few tips to help your kitty along:

Place the litter box in a clean, relatively quiet and accessible location. Keep it away from high-traffic areas and be sure your cat has access to it any time she needs it. Be sure to keep the litter box out of reach of children as well as the other animals in the household.

Show kitty where it is. Place her in the box and let her sniff. Some people have found it useful to rake their fingers through the litter to show their cat what they want her to do.

If you have more than one cat, consider a separate litter box for each. Cats generally don't like to eliminate in the same place as other cats.

Keep the litter box clean. Scoop out soiled litter daily, and change the entire box every week, putting in fresh litter. You can wash out the box with a solution of water and vinegar to help reduce the odor, and then add a little baking soda to the litter itself. An inch and a half of fresh litter is usuall plenty.

Don't place her litter box near her food and water. Cats don't like to eliminate where they eat.

Clean any accidents immediately. If kitty does have an accident, clean the area right away with a half and half solution of white vinegar and water. This will help to eliminate the odor and hopefully prevent kitty from returning to that spot.

Never punish your cat for having an accident. Do not strike her or rub her nose in the mess; instead, firmly say "No!", then place her in her litter box and praise her there.
Nope. The poor cat won't know why you're doing it, and he/she may become afraid of you.

You WILL want to clean up where it went on the floor as thoroughly as you can (I recommend going to a pet store and buying an enzyme cleaner to neutralize the smell).if it can smell its urine/feces in that spot, it'll return there to do its business.

If the cat has never used a box before, put it in a room where you can keep it during the day. Put its food %26 water as far from the box as you can, and it'll instinctively start going in the box.

Once it's gone in the box a few times, it'll return to it when he needs to go potty.
No you are not supposed to do that. When I got my cat they told me to have the litter box in a room where you can close the door. Put the cat(s) in the room with the litter box. Close the door and leave it (them) in the room for an hour. That way the cat(s) will get used to the surroundings were the litter box is and will remember it for the next time. This worked with my cat and he knew where his litter box was after I did that with him and he did not make a mess on the floor at all.. You never scold an animal. It won't help at all. It is just like a person. If you scold a person they won't listen to you. It is the same way with an animal. good Luck
