Lately, my cat has been meowing a lot..for no apparent reason.?

.she will sit and look at the wall (usually in a corner) and meow. She has food, water, and a clean litter box. Why is she doing this?
Answers:
Well, my first opinion would be.she's in heat. But then I started thinking about it. Animals are very aware of their surroundings. Living and non-living. She could be sensing or seeing ghosts or spirits. Especially if she is staring at one spot.
Either she wants to go outside or just horny. Cats need other things than food, water and a litter box.
Might be pregnant.
She wants attention! Pet her! Hold her!
She is cleary of the devil. Might I suggest duct tape- wrapped firmly around her evil furry little head.
LOL sound's like she is in heat .If she is at least 5 month's old, 99% of the time that is what it is.
it means that the cat is in heat
She is most likely in heat.
Maybe she's ill. Never heard of a cat doing anything like that. Think she could hear a mouse or something? I dunno. Good luck
get her some kind of toy with catnip in it. and play around with it with her. she needs attention.
Maybe she sees something there? Cats are weird like that. I don't mean to spook anyone out, but apparently they are able to sense/see certain things that we can't. Or maybe she hears a mouse or bug inside that wall? Or she's just plain gone nuts.
maybe she is in heat. my brother-in-laws cats do that when they are in heat. or maybe is just wanting a little more attention or would like a play mate.
Has she been "fixed." The place were we got our cat said she had been fixed. She did almost the same thing. Ops, they goofed, kitty still had all her plumbing. She got the operation, and has been fine since. Chow.
She wants to play Kitty, answers.Wow I have 1000? answers.Does this make it 1001?Here is a little attention for kitty鈾?.
I would say most likely she wants attention.
If she's not been fixed, she could be in heat. Unless she's a purebred that you plan to breed - getting her fixed might take care of the meowing, and make her happier all the way around.
If she's not desexed and it's spring wherever you are, she's in season and desperately wants a boyfriend. It's coming into spring here in Australia and my little one is doing the same thing. She's also running round and round the house, inside that is and is desperate to get outside after dark. Hormones do terrible things to all us females.
She might be in heat. I have a cat who, at less than a year old, used to almost literally howl every 4-6 weeks. Since she's a female, the myth still holds true: if you get females together, their periods synchronize. It always seemed that when I got my period, she would get hers.

I called the vet first to check and see what all this noise was, and the receptionist said she was probably in heat, so I took her and had her spayed. She didn't talk to me for the rest of the day after I picked her up from the doctor, she would turn her head as if to say, "You left me with that man and he hurt me!"

She healed up and she's fine now, and she doesn't howl anymore.

Call your vet first and have her checked out. If she's in heat, just have her spayed, and she'll be fine.
Is That The Cat I Met The Other Day? Hmmm I Wonder.
my cat does this at times too, I have no idea whats with him, maybe cats get bored too
She is probably in heat..
Maybe there is another cat outside.or if she's older, how's her eyesight? she may be meowing to bounce the sound back to her, kind of like sonar with bats.
The mouse in the wall thing is possible, too.
Your kitty might just be a "talker". My cat does it often enough - he goes into the bathroom and starts meowing very loudly. When I see it, I try to distract him, usually by calling his name and give him some attention (talk to him or pet him).
My cat does this ALL the time!! I have no idea, sometimes he wants outside. (He is indoors only) Or he wants to drink from the sink. You may want to get something to intertain her, She may be bored even if you already give her a lot.
Awww, maybe she is just a sucky wucky wanting attention like my baby .. or, she can see something and wants to chase it?

My Frosty will sit and stare sometimes, and when I get close to her, I will see a fluff floating in the air, or a little fly .. or a bird outside. My mighty little hunter doesn't miss a thing!

  1. He/She wants attention. One of my cats does the same thing. He will sit and stare at a wall (mostly a corner) and meow relentlessly...Finally I read on another forum that they do this because of acoustics-so it will sound louder and echo more. The second I pick him up and snuggle, he closes his eyes, sinks into my arms and purrs. My other cat could careless lmao. >^..^<
