My 5 month old kitten has Diarrhoea and wind, that won't go away. does anyone know any treatments?

Answers:
take a serious look at your kittens diet as it's more than likely this. Don't give it dairy products as this will give your kitten the exact symptoms that you've just described. Make sure that you have yur kitten wormed and vaccinated also. If your kittens still sick, go to the vet asap
A cork - but that is only a stop-gap solution.

(phew - one person has a sense of humour)
hahahahaha! sorry thats tickled me, just squeeze it really hard while pointing it at someone your dont like, splat!! hahah
Take it to a vet.
The best course of action is to take the kitten to see the vet - it's the only way you'll get proper diagnosis and treatment that doesn't rely on guesswork or trial and error.
take notice of what you are feeding the kitty..milk is not good for them %26 give them diarrhea (and gas) and it could be the kind of cat food you are feeding - try to upgrade the food. I have had the same problem with a couple of my kitties in the past. As for the advice by many to go to a vet, (I did that all the time when I first was getting into cats and time after time i would get the advice I just shared with you but kept rushing off to the expensive vet visit. Unless, the kitty is warm %26 sweating, dehydrated, look for physical distress symptoms before you go broke at the vets office.good luck. Having a pet is a lot about trial %26 error , that is part of the 'having %26 deciding to take responsibility for a pet' is all about.
Please take your kitty to the vet with a stool sample.
Cornflour, doesn't cure the diorrhoea but thickens it up a bit. About the gas, bag it and use it to fill your lighter.
You can give him/her a little Pepto Bismol. I gave it to my cat when he got sick. If that doesn't work, take him/her to the vet.
take her to the vet it could be serious. it also could be the food ;your feeding her. too much milk could be doing it but she should go the vet. anyway she is old enough to be spayed or neutered if a male.
hiya hun
what food is your cat on? some foods can be to rich
we have had over 30 cats and we found them new homes we dont do it no more due to haveing 2 kids
i would ring a vet if you are worried it could be anything
but try her with new food
do you have a dog? the cat could be eating the dog food
but you need to ring the vet before trying any answers on here
dont give her milk give her water and dont feed her till she has seen the vet
you can feed her a bit if you cant see the vet till tomorrow
do you think she has lost weight? how long has she been like this? is she eating and drinking?
if she has been like this for a while then you need ring the vets asp
:0)
Please take your kitten to the vet asap. If the diarrhoea is persistent he could be becoming dehydrated. Don't feed diary products as this could be the cause.
Try not to give the kitten any milk, give water instead. You can get kitten milk from the supermarket in the pet food aisle. Milk usually causes these symptoms. Hope this helps!
You could try with-holding food for 24 hours, this will give the digestive tract a rest and give it a chance to repair itself and then feed a light diet.ie. Chicken, Fish. (You can also get a food call: Feline Sensitivity from your vet, save you having to cook up fresh)Then try introducing the kitten food over a course of say 5 days with the sensitivity or chicken/fish diet.

If the diarrhoea persists or has blood or mucous in it take the kitten to the vet.

The vet may also prescribe a product called Canikur or Pro-Kolin to help the digestive tract.

Best of luck
Try a bucket of water and a good strong hand..it usually works !
If you don't have money to take it to the vet try crushing natural b12 vitamins (paper and spoon (1 1/2 pill is fine), and mix really well into egg yolk, a little water and dry cat food. Wait until the cat food is soft, before serving. To pack with even more vitamins, add chewable cat vitamins as well.

When I didn't have any money to take to vet, this remedy helped boost my cats health until I got money to take them to one.
phone up your local vet a.s.a.p, and then in the meanwhile, don't give your young kitten any dairy produce, for example kitten milk in cartons, or cows milk. Leave out wet food, and buy some solid food, asda/ big supermarkets sell kitten biscuits, and just give water to drink. Also, ask your vet whether to buy vitamin supplements, is your kitten eating in a nice, quiet, unhurried place aswell?
Diarrhoea in kittens is never great news they can get dehydrated very quickly. It's probably diet related but you really should take it to the vet for a check up. In the meantime, just give it a very bland diet - a little bit of chopped up chicken or fish. You could even trying putting a small amount of cooked rice down.
what are you feeding it? some cats are very sensitive to the foods they are given. first keep the cat on one good quality cat food, preferably dry, for a couple of weeks. just the one food and water, no treats, no human food, period. if that doesn't work ma bey it has a bacterial imbalance in it's intestines. you can get live acidophiles culture at pet stores or even some feed stores, a little bit of that in everything it eats should help balance the good bacteria in the digestive tract.
My little boy puss was the same.he has chronic diarrhoea from about 3 months until a month ago (he's year old). I wormed him and took a stool sample to the vet, they said nothing was wrong, but he still had it. I have recently stopped feeding him cat food and feed him a combination of chopped beef, kidney, tuna in spring water and chicken (all raw, not mixed together but in the same bowl sometime.) He loves it and has not had diarrhoea since.
Worm him, then get him checked out at the vet first to make sure he doesnt have any parasites and if the vet says he's ok then just feed him good raw meat and dry cat food.
Sometimes a bit of cat grass can help to - you might be able to get it from a nursey - its usually in the herb section.
Hope your little puss gets better!
whatever you do, DO NOT Give your cat human medicine as some idiot above suggested, it could kill it. The only person qualified to give you a diagnosis is a vet, get your cat there straight away.
yes, your vet will have lots of treatments. I should get the kitten to the vet ASAP before it dies from dehydration.
It sounds as though the food you are feeding the little' gas bag' is too rich..wee soul! try a dried food diet.tinned and sachet food can be to rich and can irritate the stomach. avoid all dairy products cats cant tolerate them either especially when young.make sure he/she has plenty water throughout the day.check out a few websites. try the 'cat clinic' - www.catclinic.co.uk website they are dedicated to cats and are of great help..>^..^%26lt;

my 5 month old female kitten got spayed 3 days ago ..?

my kitten got spayed and they said she had a bad urinary tract infection and gave us amoxicillen for her. i heard female cats can get them all the time. how do i reduce the chance of her getting it and how do i tell when or if she has one again?? i cant tell if there's blood in her box. she keeps peeing a little bit on the floor but i dont see any. thanks.
Answers:
You need to discuss that with her doctor. Trust me..they will be HAPPY to talk to you about all of this. That's what they're there for. :-)

Not all cases are the same. Bring it up when you take her back in for her follow-up urinalysis. Not all cats with UTI's need a dietary change (only if it's FLUTD.formerly known as FUS.) If the pH is normal and there are no crystals seen in the sediment on her urinalysis recheck, changing her food is not indicated.

C/D is a PRESCRIPTION diet.meaning it can only be recommended/prescribed by a DVM, and only after an examination by that DVM. It shouldn't be fed to kittens that young.

Edited to add: Cats are COMMONLY spayed at 4-5 months of age.and have been for many, many years. (I'll do them as early as 3 months, and the USHS and AVMA have been advocating as early as 8wks for almost 20 yrs.) Spaying her at 5 months was entirely appropriate. If you wait until 6 months, you'll often have an already-pregnant cat.
the best thing you can do is buy her purina one urinary tract formula dry food pretty inexpensive $5 for a 3.5lb bag and if you get her to eat this then she will be fine you can give her a can of wet food once in awhile but at the most once a week and no tuna or milk.the thing you need to watch is high magnesium and the purina one is very low and i had a cat that kept getting urinary tract infections and since he has been on this food he is fine.good luck
Along with her dry food feed her canned as well, make sure she has plenty of fresh clean water available, keep her litter box clean. Urinating outside the litterbox is a good indication that a UTI may be brewing.
Keep giving her the amoxcillian. Bring her back to the vet when the antibiotic is finished. Then the vet can determine if she still has an infection. The way to prevent further urinary tract infections for ALL cats is to feed them food with low magnesium. IAMS is one of the best dry foods with low magnesium. We have six cat kids.four boys and two girls and have been feeding all of them IAMS indoor formula for a year now and IAMS dry food in general for 10 years. These kids of ours are healthy, have beautiful coats, active dispositions and the oldest one, Bubbsy who is almost 11 years old, still plays like a kitten. Be sure to keep plenty of fresh water around the house. We keep two stoneware bowls of fresh water for our babies. I change the water twice daily. Keeping their systems flushed with good water and low magnesium will help their urinary tracts and their health in general. Good luck with your darling!
You could feed your cat a special diet for urinary tract infections. Ask your vet to recommend one and just keep her on it all the time. I recommend c/d by Hills.
If you're worried she might have an infection, you could take a urine sample to the vet so they can perform a urinalysis. You may have to take the litter out of her box and maybe replace it with something that doesn't absorb liquid. Ask your vet if they sell NoSorb litter. Or check at your local pet store.
This is a chronic condition. Check out the website:
www.KittenCare.com
Find out the initial cause of this infection.
Making sure she has enough water and perhaps a special diet may be needed.
Urinary tract infections can occur in either sex.
If she is peeing on the floor, the infection is still there.
The anit-biotocs take 5 days to take proper effect, and you must complete the course. When you take her back to the vet to get her stitches out, make sure the vet checks her again for the infection and ask for more anti-biotics to clear up the infection completely
unirary tract infections are most often caused by something in the diet, make sure your kitty eats food with no Ash content in it
and this issue is not limited to females
The fact that you got her spayed should pretty much stop her UTI's. Usually, cats get them due to the excessive cleaning they do when they go into heat as well as when they become seniors. Good luck!
I'm surprised that your vet spayed your cat at 5 months old,
the average is when there six. I would go back to the vet and
ask about a speciall diet for the urinaty tract. That is some
thing you don't want to get out of control, your cat can die
from such a situation. I know i almost lost mine. Special
food formula and medication is what you need them to set
up for you. Hope all works out for you and kitty.
Dont buy purina - purina has crap in it that arent natural to a cats diet - look into Innova - it only has ingredients that are natural - protiens that are natural to a cat.

My 5 month old cat has a "smokers cough" when he wakes up. Is it a hairball or does he have a cold?

Recently he has been waking up and coughing in the morning. Just like a smokers cough where it sounds like he has a cold in his chest or some type of liquid buildup in his lungs. Is it a hairball hes trying to cough up? Is this a sympton of a bigger issue??
Answers:
I would suggest the vet. 5 months is young and if you recently got him he could have had something that is just now manifesting symptoms. Shelters and rescues have diseases all the time. Some animal breaks with something all the time and no matter how cautious communicable diseases can spread.

Did he have all his rounds of shots? I would seriously have a vet listen to his lung. He is old enough for a rabies vaccine so I would take him in for that. Only a vet can give the shot and they will listen to his internal organs and feel around for anything suspicious.

Kittens rarely get hairballs as they haven't started a full shedding cycle.
hair ball
also it could be the dry food you feed him.
try changing his food..they have dry food for hairballs.
It is possible that he has a cold, but also possible he may have allergies.
it's sick see the vet for treatment
could be either, neither or both!
Hes a smoker.
I have never known it to be a good thing, or even remotely normal for a cat to cough.Get it to a vet.
My cat had a cough and I thought the same thing. When I took her to the vet I found out that due to our recent move and being used to different humidity she developed allergies. You might want to check with your vet to see if this is the case and get some meds to help the cat.
It sounds like a hairball or possibly allergies. To help him with passing hairballs, put a little petroleum jelly on his whiskers; he won't like it, and will lick it off; this helps coat the hairball in his digestive tract, and makes it easier for him to get rid of it. If this doesn't take care of the problem in a few days, it's time to see your vet.

my 5 month old cat bites me all the time and then runs wat should i do?

Answers:
He/She is just being a kitten. They can be awfully mischievious.
Run after it and bite it back.
gently thump him and say a firm no.. over several attemps it will get the idea it's a kitten thing. just being playful
if a cat bites me im throwin it away 4 sho.
Caution, this can be missunderstood.
The cat is testing the waters.who is in charge. You or the cat. Right now the cat considers you it's equal.
Retaliating is the only answer, but can you do it?
Get on it's level and bite back? It only takes once, and bitten, the cat will realise it is not the boss.
Reccomend declawing first///////////////
let it outgrow being a kitten.the same as you let a baby outgrow being a baby.
it is just doing what kittens do and pleas don't declaw your cat there is no good reason for it that training can not stop
while it IS just being a kitten.. you can take toenail clippers you use for yourself and just take some of the tip off the kittens claws.. keeps him from laying open flesh when he isn't being mean. They can't help it sometimes. MUCH easier and cheaper than declawing! Usually best when he's in a sleepy mood. Start getting him used to that by extending his claws and touching his feet while sleeping.. then the clippers won't scare it.. less likely to run off if they trust you. you could also get another cat.. he'd have someone else to play w/.
Kittens are not much different from babies. I have a 6 week old kitten and need to remind myself of that. Look in your cats mouth, you will notice that not all teeth are there. Like babies, they're teething and feel the need to chew.
Keep a spray bottle of water near by. When your kitten is misbehaving, weather biting on you, or what not, spray him. I do the same with mine, it's starting to have an effect.
Also, like children, try turning their attention to something else. I have a toy called a "teaser" that my kitten loves playing with and chewing on. It's just a bunch of feathers on a stick and she loves it!
For godsakes ..u dont have to do anything ,
its a cat not a tiger.
get a newspaper after it
He / she is just playing. A lot of kittens do that..
A spray bottle of water goes a long way. Even a squirt gun. A few squirts and they get the idea. All I have to do is touch my cats spray bottle and he stops immediately. Doesn't work when he gets curious about my python though, he had to learn that lesson the hard way. Good thing I was there.

My 5 1/2 month old kitten is a very fussy eater, where can I get more of a variety of kitten food?

My 5 1/2 month old kitten, Missy, will only eat two types of kitten food: Salmon %26 Bream or Tuna %26 Chicken.

She will not eat the beef or chicken (or chicken with egg) for some reason.

I want to give her a wider variety of flavours because I don't want her to be a fussy eater when she is older.

She has no problem with eating chicken flavour dry food.

I live in Melbourne, AUSTRALIA (NOT U.S.A). There is only so far I can drive for kitten food.

I am currently feeding her Whiskas wet food and Purina One dry food. Should I try find a better brand of food?

Thanks for everyone's help in advance :)
Answers:
Any canned food is better than the best dry food. Kibble, even the best kinds, contain grains. Which is a very odd thing for carnivores to eat. Ever see a cat ask for a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast? lol

The kibble/dental connection isn't necessarily true either. It's best to clean your cat's teeth with wipes or by brushing, so there's no need to rely on kibble, which they may swallow whole anyway.

Get her used to canned food now, and you won't have to deal with weaning her off dry food later.

I don't know what brands you might have in Australia, but read the labels. You want to see meat - actual meat - listed at the top. Avoid meal and byproducts. Avoid corn, wheat and soy - they are known to be allergens. Avoid all grains if possible, although if they are not in the top three, and not those listed above, some is ok.

This isn't kitten specific, but you've only got 4.5 months to go anyway. I'm sure you can find good brands for kittens.

And what the person said about variety is true too. One of my cats will eat anything I put down. The other will only eat ONE kind of food. I worried for a while, then realized that for one thing, they don't see the same way we do. Just because it doesn't look good to me doesn't mean anything. Besides that, prior to switching to canned, they ate the same dry kibble daily for a year, so there's no reason to think they're going to get bored with the same canned food.

Below are some links to excellent articles about nutrition.
Petco.com
very easy,i have a cat that more fussy then yours.so i finally dun give any food for 2 day..and lock it in kennel..after 2 or 3 day..
I don't think you need to worry about her liking a variety of food. I had a cat
that lived to over 16 years and all she ate was Purina Cat Chow. Dry food
is really good for cats. It keeps their teeth clean. Just make sure you leave
fresh water every day. Canned foods are messy and sometimes cause
crystals in the cat's urine. Stick with the dry food.
Cats are creatures of habit and do NOT like a variety of foods. Select their favorite and stick with it.. humans may think it's boring (not having a variety), but cats do not. They thrive on a stable environment. including what they are going to be fed each day. too many changes in their diet can lead to diarrhea
If she eats the dry kibble with no problem I would not worry about it. She probably just does not like the smell or flavor of the canned food. Most cats are notoriously finicky. Dry kibble is actually better for them. It will help keep their teeth and gums healthy and also, when cats get along on years too much protien can be hard on their kidneys.
I do not know if you have petsmarts there but they have lots of kitty foods.Walmart also has a lot..

my 4yr old cat still suckles both me and my husbands t-shirt, is this normal?

she has done since a young age
Answers:
Yeah. Baby does that too. He nucks my shoulder in the middle of the night, and purrs so loud he wakes me up! I love it - it's about all the attention I get from the little booger! Most of the time he's so 'big-n-tuff' he ain't got time for mom!
yes he or she is just looking to play with you
actually, its quite a compliment..she identies you as mamma figures, and has you both imprinted on her as such. that means she really loves and trusts you completely.
Most people would not like it, It just something the cat found to do that feals good. Why do you allow it?
He likes warm places to sleep (or comfortable).
We acquired a kitten that had been taken away from its mother when it was too young.
She never quit sucking on any thing or anyone, especially when she was sleeping.
Another kitten we had did so when our other kitten died suddenly.
But he only did it until we got another one and called that kitten his partner in crime.
Both were real goof balls and kept us entertained for many years.
yes it is normal, some cats do some dont, could be the cat was taken away to early from the mom

My 4-month old kitten keeps sucking his tail. Is this normal?

And nothing can stop him from not doing it either. There could be a nuclear war going on and he'd be lying there, content with his tail. Any other kittens do this? And why do they do it?
Answers:
Some vets believe that sucking is a stress reliever - others think it's just comforting and the cat was taken from the litter too soon. If this activity is causing a medical problem, [i.e. hair-loss or sores],it's probably time for a vet visit- otherwise just consider this to be one of your kitty's endearing quaities!
It must calm him down. Its just like a baby sucking his/her thumb, right? Its okay. Dont worry about it., I have 2 cats of my own :D

鈾?
lol. just let it be, soon it will grow out of it. just one of those things that are ridiculous like kids do
My miniature schnauzer is 16 months old and sucks on his mothers ears on a regular basis and we can't stop him soo I doubt you can stop a cat from sucking his tail. It must be some sort of security issue and as long as he sdoesn't get any sores from it I wouldn't worry to much . Some kids suck their thumb at night till they are adults go figure. Just let him be him
LOL! =) Been through there. my kitten did the same thing (he would suck the tip of his tail) when he was little and he kept on doing it as a grown cat =) He didn't have any health issues as a result of sucking his tail =)
Better his tail then your ear, hair, or neck. My kitten was weaned to early, so he started sucking on my ear when I would try to sleep. But he has seemed to out grow it, now he just sleep in my hair when I go to bed.
It's normal - it's just comfort behavior, like sucking his thumb. Our oldest cat is well over a year old and she sucks on this particular fuzzy blanket and kneads it at the same time. I love kitties - they're so weird. :-)

My 4mo old kitten was spayed 4days ago, could this be responsible for her very bad gas??

I adopted her from our county shelter, where they gave me a copy of her health record- indicating that 1 month ago when they recieved her, she was wormed, ears cleaned, nails trimmed, frontline, FeLv/FIV, RCCP-Felo-vax-IV and just recieved her rabies vacc.
So I dont believe she has worms, etc. and I only feed her dry science diet indoor kitten %26 water. No wet or people food.
Why does she have BAD gas? lol it is not constantly, but quite
a few times per day. left over anesthetic? help!
Answers:
Science Diet.yeah..look at the ingredients list on the side of the bag. Meat by-products and corn, right? I wasted money on that food for over a year before someone gave me the head's up.

Put her on a higher-quality food made with real meats and more nutritional fillers like peas. My cat loves Wellness. He doesn't have smelly farts anymore (and the female we once had greatly improved in the smell department after switching her to it). Some other good brands are Nature's Variety, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, and Wysong's. For something a bit cheaper but still far better than Science Diet, check out Nutro Max Cat.

And try going with canned food instead of dry. Canned is easier for cats to digest. Reading this website changed my outlook and my cat's life:
http://www.catinfo.org
It maybe her tummy gas ,is just starting to move again.
We got our 2 kittens at 12 weeks and about a month later they began to have horrible gas. Deadly!! We used to say they were cute but stinky. It's probably just backed up gas from the anesthesia, but if it doesn't stop try changing her food. Our kittens stopped the gas attacks after 9 months, when they became young adults.
What the heck are you feeding the poor thing?? LOL

My 4 month old Kitty will not cover her poo in the litterbox.?

She covers her pee.since she doesn't cover her poo, she winds up stepping in it, ugh! I am so tierd of chasing her around when she steps out of her box so I can clean her feet. Any suggestions?
Answers:
To help keep your home free of little litter trails, follow one of these four simple tips:
1. Use a hooded box.
2. Put the litter box inside a large cardboard box. Your cat must step into the larger box first before leaving the litter area.
3. Put an empty tray next to litter box so she must step into empty tray before leaving
the litter box.
4. Scoop at least once a day.
your cats still pretty young, so chances are that she will figure out how to cover her poo eventually. until then, just try your best to keep up with your little kitty.
Wow. that is a tricky one.

Female cat.

First thought is too not let her out of her litter box right away. Keep her confined and do a little parenting/educating while she's in there. Get hold of her little paw and help her cover her poop.

Next is a request for more information. Is it just you and the kitten in the house? No other pets? No other house hold members?

If that is the case you might consider getting another kitten. That kitty buddy might have a bit more luck teaching her the ropes when in the potty area. The other option is a puppy. Hear me out! This isn't as wierd as it might sound! She will see puppy monster and might veiw him as a competitor. Cats are preprogramed too hide their waste from their competitors (with the noted exception of stud males that are flaunting the fact that they "get some"). Also you would have the added benifit of having a bestest buddy for your cat when you weren't home.

Really. cats and dogs can be GREAT freinds if they are properly introduced together.

I hope this helps.
It could be the litter that you are using. Try changing to a higher quality litter and see if that works. My kitten had the same problem until I changed the brand I was using to a better one.

Try putting the litter box in a more private place (i.e: laundry), see if that works.

Most cats will leave the box where there is no poop. Clean the litter tray once a day and make sure it's clean.
Are you sure it's a she? Tom cats often will not cover their waste up.
I agree with the first answer. Your cat is young, and may still have box problems. Mine did but she also got sick of poop on her paw. She'll get there mom just give her a chance.

my 4 month old kitten she does not like our dog?

we have a 1.5 yr old dog and our new kitten does not like dogs so she starts to bite me and everyone that comes in her way. our dog is use to cats and loves them but the kitten has no reason to not like dogs so we were told by spca where we got her from. at first she was sweet as pie then she had a problem with the kids, after a while she got use to 'em but the dog she gets into growling and biting and scratching that i don't know what to do.after a while she goes back to being a sweet cat again can any one help us thanks.
Answers:
Just give it time, she will get used to the dog. Even if they don't become buddies, she should at least learn to tolerate him/her. At 4 months, cats are still pretty scared of a lot of things. She got used to the kids, odds are, she'll get used to the dog.

She's biting people because of redirected aggression. She's upset about the dog and is taking it out on anything that gets near her. So give her some space when the dog is around. And it would probably be best to separate them at night..just to ensure the safety of both of them.

But please don't declaw your cat. The idiot who said they don't need their claws.well, is an idiot. Cats do need their claws for many things (defense, marking their scent, toning their muscles..it's also therapeutic for them to scratch). And declawing is very cruel! They amputate a bone in the cat's foot..it would be the equivalent of someone cutting the tip of your finger off at the first knuckle. Behavioral problems can arise after declawing, as well (the two big ones being litter box avoidance and biting). Read this site for more info;

http://www.declawing.com/

And I highly recommend Cats for Dummies 2nd Edition. There are tips in there for introducing cats to other animals, AND a whole section on the declawing issue.

Good luck!
I'm not sure, but I think she will get used to the dog because she is only 4 months old. At 1.5 years old, the dog is still pretty much a pup and will be OK. Just try to make sure she doesn't scratch the dogs eyes!! Good luck to all of you!
Maybe you should declaw her, if she is an inside cat and the dog hasn;t harmed her, there is no reason to have the claws.
not many cats or kittens willin like dogs around them . they might think the dogs will hurt them or bite them either both can be harm .
had your dog ever get along with any cats before ?

My 4 month old kitten has a small lump on her head.Is it normal or is something infectious?

Answers:
It is hard to say what it is without looking at it, but no it's not normal. I would take her/him to the vet and have him look at it. It may be that your kitten has been scratched by another cat and it has gotten infected. Your vet should be able to tell you for sure.
It not "normal" for you, your cat or your dog to have a lump on the body. Your cat must be seeing a vet for shots and at four months plans should be made for neutering so it is something your vet needs to investigate.
i would keep an eye on it and mention it to the vet next time you go
It may have gotten clawed by another kitten or cat. It could be a pocket of infection.Cats claws are loaded with bacteria from contact with feces.Lance it with a sterile needle to drain the infection then keep area clean with alcohol. If nothing comes out consult a vet.
not seeing it or anything I can't tell you but your vet can take her in to be seen.
Take it to your vet. It could be serious. Good luck and God bless you and your cat.

My 4 month old cat..fetches??

I got a new cat a few weeks ago, and she loves this one particular spongy soccer ball toy, she'll chase it any where, and she brings it back for more, how unusual is this? At least for a cat and one her age?
Answers:
I used to have a siamese ragdoll, who had a toy she loved. Her Bud. She would look all over for it. Bring it to you when she wanted to play and sleep with it. Cats are supposed to be smarter than dogs. So fetching is good. Someday soon we'll see you on TV with your cat that can fetch a beer.
Maybe it's a dog in a cat's body?

It's very unusual for a cat to play fetch, but if it likes doing it might as well play along.
next time use a hand grenade
Many cats play fetch.

I have had several that do.

My Mikey loves his soft, beat-up furry ball. As many times as we will throw it, he will bring it back for more. :-))
I had one that would fetch one of those party blowers. The paper tube things at kids parties that roll out when you blow into them. She loved them and would chase them all over the house.
My friend has a cat that will fetch bouncy balls. Like you get in gumball machines at the grocery store. It's the funniest thing if you toss it down the stairs, the cat all but falls over herself to get it.
I had 3 cats do that, it is so cool! Keep doing it because when they get older they either forget how or get lazy. Have fun with your cute baby they love the attention.
we had a wonderful cat that fetched just like a dog
enjoy her, this is a little unusual
My cats Chase a tennis ball when rolled across the lawn but they don't bring it back.
Your lucky to have such a playful cat.
My cat does it too. He is particularly clever, I admit. We also play footbal together (I kick the ball, he catches it and kicks it back to me).
That is actually very cute. My cat get's on his back paws and boxes with people.
HOW COOL IS THAT.MY DOG LEARNT TO DANCE WHEN HE WAS 5 MTHS OLD..SEE WOT ELSE YOU CAN GET IT TO DO.
My kitty has done that since she was a baby, now she is nearly 1! I had never seen a cat do that before! She has a toy mouse that she will bring to you for you to throw and she brings it back for more! She will also do it with a scrunched up paper ball!
I have hadmany cats over the years, we have only hadd one that fetched. So, i would say that it is not a common thing for a cat to do.
I had a cat once, who as a kitten of probably about the same age you speak of, would also return a toy to me, and wait for me to throw it again. Unfortunately, and I don't know why, he stopped doing this. It had been so cool, as I'm sure you feel. Just keep it up, so your cat doesn't forget how to do this.
hi, i also have a cat(max) who also does this, it means they are very smart, and have learned if they return it, you will play with them, however yes it is rare, as my other 4 dont do this at all
have fun with her
I currently have a cat that fetches. She's a trip! She also plays with this piece of string that came off the cat food bag (the stiff pull string to open it). She'll take it into the kitchen and grab it in her mouth and turn in circles like she's chasing it. The more we laugh at her the faster she goes.

my 4 month old cat has runny poo gray/green colour dont no what to do please help?

my cat is 4 months old and is well with in himself but the runny poo is worring me

Hi Kelly.there are many variants which can cause diarrhea in cats. If the food was suddenly switched this would cause bowel disturbances. If there's some bacteria such as coccidia or giardia (giardia includes a little blood and mucous) or parasites--worms. A vet will need to have a fresh feces sample to examine for cause and then to properly treat. Young cats that have diarrhea for more than a few days will become quickly dehydrated and may need subcutaneous fluids (SubQ .similar to IV fluids).

Coccidia: http://www.westlakeanimalhospital.com/en.
Giardia: http://cats.about.com/od/gastrictractdis.
Feline Diarrhea: http://www.animalhelp.com/pets/articlede.
clean it up
Call the vet being that young they can dehydrate very quickly. Good luck
Veterinarian get off line and go see one. HELLLOOOOO!!
Time for a visit to the vet..
Phone your vet.
草你妈
take him to a vet
What goes in must come out. What are you feeding you cat? Has it has all it's shots?
This sounds like a problem with the level of bacteria in the gut, you really should consult you vet as kittens can lose condition with frightening speed

Good luck
It's not unusual for kittens to have diarrhea while still nursing, or even for a little while after being weaned, but since your kitten is now 16 weeks old, I'm assuming he's been weaned for a while, and this diarrhea just started up. And since the color is so odd, it's time for a trip to the vet. And do it soon! Any problem can kill a kitten quickly.
Depends how long this has been going on for ?

Cats can catch little bugs and illness's like us so they make get the runs now and then. our cats do every now and then and as long as it doesn't go on for more than 3 days I shouldn't worry too much. Have you wormed him yet, that may be why, or changed his food. Cats as you may know already are very fussy with their food. clean fresh water so he doesn't get dehydrated after having the runs.

If still worried then take him to the vets.
And you still sitting in front of the computer? Take your poor cat see the vet as quick as you can..Runnnnn.
What are you feeding your kitten? Try Junior canned food / pouches, and see if that has any effect. Kibble food can cause runny stools, as there is so much in it that cats cannot digest.

When you buy food, go for foods that have _very_ low carbohydrates and little carb sources (try for no corn and rice foods, if you can access them). There is info on good foods at www.catinfo.org and some home preparing recipes at www.catnutrition.org.

But a visit to the vet, or at least a phone call, is always a good idea. make sure he has had all his shots and de-worming too.
You need to make an apointment with your local vet. There could be a number of reasons this is happening, including your cat's diet. Your vet will probably want a "fresh" sample as well.. as gross as it sounds. When you call to make an apointment you should ask.
Pleasse contact a vet or if you are unable to afford vets fees try RSPCA,PDSA or BLUE CROSS poor little thing needs checking over. Do not feed regualr kat food or give milk : Give water and a ;ittle boiled chiken and rice BUT 1ST SEEK ADVICE

My 4 month old cat has had Diarrhea for about 6 days should i take her to the vet? or what should I feed her?

SHe has engery and seems to be fine she just has diarrhea. I've be monitoring her eating, drinking, and how many times she poops. Shes eating fine drinking right and poops 2-3 times a day as usual. I heard if u feed cats grass it helps but I haven't done it cause i'm not sure about it. Please only answer if you REALLY know what to do about this. I don't want to make her sicker than what she is.
Answers:
whatever you do DO NOT give your cat human medicine as some idiot suggested, that could kill it. You must take your cat to the vet ASAP ( SINCE THIS QUESTION WAS POSTED 15 HOURS AGO I HOPE YOU HAVE) 6 days is way too long for you to leave this cat without attention from a vet.
Take her to the vet, she may have worms or be really sick, six days is too long to have diarrhea.
Make sure you aren't giving her any milk, milk can give cats diarrhea. If this continues, I would call the vet.
take her to the vet ASAP!! DUH!!
it's NOT rocket science ok!!
Take her to the vet. Diarehha is not normal. especially for 6 days she will get dehydrated and very ill fast so it is best to get her to the vet as soon as possible.
She will eat grass if SHE wants to. Have you changed her food? Are you buying the cheapy cat food? I prefer Iams or the new Fancy Feast dry. Stay away from canned food except for an occasional treat.

I rescued a kitty once, brought her home, fed her milk and then named her Squirt once I saw the results of my good intentions. Milk really messes with their tummies, so give that up too! They like it but should not have it.
Have you changed her food, or have you been consistant with the same food? Changing a kitties food, giving it milk, or giving it table scraps can all give kitty the runs, but they can have a disease that doesn't show symptoms until when they are a little older, and of course worms will almost always give a kitty the runs.
Better to take her to be checked just in case.and kitties need to be wormed once in a while anyway.
first don't feed her any human food the worst u can give her is ham. Feed her solid cat or dog food.

go to the vet after u give her a good diet wait maybe a day or two to go to the vet after you switch her diet.

it could also be tapeworm that can cause diarrhea
before it gets too late, take her to the vet asap!! You will regret forever if it's too late.
You should definitely take her to a vet.
You are risking her getting dehydrated, she should see a vet.
They may tell you to change her diet and how to.
If you want to get her grass - some cats like it. You can buy them the right kind at Petco. Do NOT let her eat any regular houseplants. Some of them are poisonous to cats (Specifically Easter Lilies!)
definitely take her to the vet!! she could have worms or something terrible wrong!!
Is she an in door cat or out door? Try a tsp of pepto bismal twice a day. Take her off wet food and feed dry. Try giving her food ennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. (acidophilus.) 30 to 50 mg.
the frist answer here is very true --take your kitten to the vet . It could die.Kittens can get dehidered very fast .If you love her you will take her to the vet.
I guess my question is about the same as everyone else's.what are you feeding kitty? Too much dairy, cheapie kitty food, human food..? Diahrea for six days is not a good sign.if nothing else, call your local vet..some vets have an "ask a nurse" program and they'll help you over the phone.
Try changing her food and give her one capful of Kaopectate in a can of soft food that will help firm her stools.
Give her some cooked beef. I know it sounds weird, but it works. Fry her a little ground beef if nothing else. If that doesn't work, take her to your vet.
First off it could be the cat food that she is eatting. What kind are you feeding her? try giving her some rice cooked in chicken broth.. You can also give her 1cc. of keopectate. If I can help I am at mfroeh@yahoo.com

My 4 mo kitten keeps chewing telephone cords. What can I do to get him to stop?

Answers:
Yikes! I know a cat that actually electrocuted himself doing that. He recovered but it wasn't pretty.

You could try a bitter spray like "Bitter Apple". It makes things taste bad so that the cat won't bother with it. Also make sure that the cat has toys etc to play with and chew on to help distract him from the cords.

Keep a close eye on him!
Best of luck!
buy him a lilttle toy, the reason he is doing that is because he is teething :]. awww! my cat`s all old. lol.
Cover the cord or wind up the cord and go to the pets store and buy your cat some toys that resemble the phone cords. But be sure you keep that phone cord hid the best you can so that he doesn't play with it it can electrocute him
get him some grass to eat, and rub some lemon juice on the cords.
if you catch your kitten chewing any cord het a spray bottle of water and spray him ONCE only once you do not want him getting sick if that does not work go to a pet store and get something called green apple its sour and taste nasty to them so when they bite the wire they dont like the taste in turn they stop biting whatever it is that taste nasy and if that doesnt work call your vet make an appointment and he should be able to help you.
Same thing happens to me just keep the wires on high evaltion or get a wireless phone.
I had the same problem with my cat when she was a kitten also, and I found that spraying a topical biting deterrent on items such as cords really helped to diminish that habit. I used this great product called Biter Apple biting deterrent. I'm sure pretty much any pet store( like Petsmart or Pet co.) carries this product or one like it. Well good bye and good luck with your kitten! :)
I've read that cats really dislike citrus. I would suggest taking some fresh orange or lemon peel and rubbing it on the cord every couple of days until kitty gets the idea to leave it alone.
When my adult female cat was a kitten I had to use hot peppers to prevent her from chewing up power cords and anything else that she tried destroying. All you have to do is go to your local store or food market and get some hot peppers then take them home and rub some of the juice on the power cords and that should put a stop to your kittens chewing problem also try getting some catnip to distract the kittens attention or even lots of toys with feathers attached.

My 4 cats (3 boys, 1 girl--all fixed) have started spraying--how can I stop this?

1.5 years ago, I got married and moved my 2 cats in with my husband's 2 cats. They never got along, but up until recently there haven't been any spraying issues. I've caught 2 boys in the act, and also caught the girl peeing in the corner. They've been checked out for UTIs, and I've tried such remedies as Feliway, and using enzyme cleaners to get out the smell, but it hasn't worked. Any ideas?
Answers:
Often when you combine two households together including animals you will have some problems( as you have noticed). The same problem has happened to me -- so all I can tell you is what is working for me. But first the reason(s) your cats are spraying (1) your cats are territorial, which means they will mark what they consider their space or area. (2) there may be scents from previous animals they are trying to cover up with their own scent (3) Are there any stray cats roaming the area outside that are possibliy marking the area?? Your cats will retaliate by marking the inside of the home to let the strays know this is their area. (4) They might simply be expressing their dislike for one another in the household. Now what may help with the smell inside the house (1) an equal mixture of white vinegar and water sprayed directly to the areas sprayed (as soon as possible to time of spraying) (2) search the internet for products that claim to remove odors completely and maybe try some. (3) Pulling up carpeted areas that are liked to targeted and bleach underneath / or refinish(replace) wooded areas ( bleach mixture should be in the ratio of 1 to 10, 1 part bleach/ 10 part water) ; mixture should remain on location for a few minutes and wiped off quickly to prevent discoloration of wood/underneath material. (4) for the outside -- you can try planting a herb/plant called Rue in plentitude around the home; some say mixing in the old cat litter into the soil or plant material used in gardening or flower beds will deter the strays outside; Or there is trying to trap the strays and make sure they find ways to shelters for new homes or such. I have had some success with the rue outside and white vinegar mix inside ( thank god for warm weather and open windows during treatments) I have also had success with pulling up carpeted areas and bleach treating spots. So I hope this helps and if you find anything else that works let me know so I can try it too.
Cats who suddenly start doing this usually have a health problem (which you have ruled out) or are experiencing a behavioral problem. Sounds to me like they are not happy. Not much really works to remove the smell. I've actually had to paint wood floors to seal the smell in to the wood because nothing else worked. Maybe you could restrict 2 cats to one part of the hosue, and the other 2 to another part. This will give them all some space, and maybe they won't be so angry. Good luck.
Change the litter frequently. Use one that absorbs odor, like FreshStep. Dirty litter turns off cats and gets them spraying to tell you. Let the cats have time alone in a room of their own (with litter) as they may not all want to be together all the time. Clean up all sprays with something like "Urine Gone". Check if any cats are "stooping down" and dropping urine as that might mean they have a bladdar infection and need to see the vet. Make sure they all have food they like, like Science Diet. Don't skimp on crummy food. If cats spray they are trying to tell you something and if they are all fixed it may not be marking territory. Good luck.
are they fixed if not you should get them fixed but I have seen fixed cats spray but it was out side thank god but I believe that it is a Territorial thing so I don't know what to tell you
Do you have 4 litter boxes? Some cats just won't share.
YES YOU PUT THE CATS ON THE BACK PORCH OR IN THE GARAGE AND DO NOT LET THEM IN THE HOUSE THEN HAVE YOUR CARPETS CLEANED BY STANLEY STEEMER. THE BEST CARPET CLEANER IN AMERICA. PROBLEM SOLVED
Is there someone new in the household? Someone new outside? Is there a stray hanging around outside? Something is making them feel threatened and territorial issues have popped up. Did you get another pet like a dog? If this just started and there are no health issues something has made them feel their territory has or is being threatened. Try to figure out when it started and what has been new since then. Good luck.

My 3-year-old male cat recently began urinating blood. I don't have much $, what do I do?

He not only does this when he urinates but also when he sprays as well. What is his most likely diagnosis and will this cost me a lot of money? I'm afraid that if it is too expensive, I won't be able to afford it and might have to have him put down if it is that serious.
Answers:
You need to take him to the vet immediately. He probably has a urinary tract infection, which can become very serious if not treated early. It shouldn't cost too much.
This is a bladder infection very painfull for a cat. he needs to see a vet TODAY. They will put him on a antibiotic
Give hime to someone that can afford to take care of him. You have to take him to the vet or he will die.
Antifreeze

Cats love to drink it

:)
Blood in the urine indicates a bladder infection or possibly some form of cancer in the urinary tract. Take your cat to a vet because it can be serious.
Many vets are not in their profession for the money. Call around, I know a few of my friends from school are vets and they are more than willing to take patients in on a payment plan.
I am not a vet so this is just an educated guess. From my education of cats, it sounds like (s)he has worms. You can buy an antiworm med from walmart or somewhere like that for CHEAP. So, that's what I would try. Hope this info helps.
Maybe it's a kidney infection. I heard cats get that alot. Maybe you could get free advice from a local animal shelter? Also, try the following link.
I'd call around, see if any vets have a payment plan. Realistically, what is your other option other than bringing him into the vet? You might get bad news and have to put him to sleep. If you don't bring him to the vet, he might die a slow, miserable death. I am sure you would rather have him put to sleep painlessly than to have him endure that, sad as it may be.

Another option is to give him up to the SPCA. They will treat him but if you don't have money to pay you have to sign the animal over to them.
Before you freak out too much, contact your local animal shelter. Ask them to give you the name of a couple of low-cost vets in your area. They should be able to point you in the right direction.
Take him to the city pound, they can help.
get a lone and save that cat
Get him to the vet.NOW..he has a urinary tract infection. If you dont get it taken care of, his urethra will get blocked completely.
It could be as simple as a urinary infection which could be resolved with anitbiotic or as serious as bladder cancer (which my Mincho was recently diagnosed with). The only way you can know is to start with a urinalysis to see what is going on with the urinary system.
why do you have a cat if you cant afford it. give it to someone who can.
it is probably a urinary tract infection, or a kidney infection which would probably cost an office visit and some antibiotics, maybe a follow up visit.

the cat does need to go to the vet before it gets even more serious. if a urinary infection is left untreated it can damage kidneys and all best to get this taken care of soon and you'll have to spend less money.

you might consider after this putting maybe $5 a month or so away incase of medical attention is needed for your cat.
umm. if you were urinating blood what would you do??
You shouldn't have a pet if you can't afford to properly care for it.
He has some kind of urinary tract infection or kidney disease, both of which are serious conditions requiring medical attention. The cost is probably an office visit and some antibiotics. Not terribly expensive. Most vets will offer you a payment plan if needed.

You should have thought of the cost of caring for a cat before you got him. :-(
Well, you can either let your cat suffer in pain because you can't be bothered to take him to the vet, in which case he will continue to suffer and will quite possibly die painfully, or you can own up to the responsibilities you took on when you adopted the cat in the first place and take it to the vet for treatment.
It sounds like your kitty has a urinary tract infection, and it can indeed be expensive to treat. However, vets are generally willing to work with you and offer a payment plan, if you can't pay everything up front.

Get this taken care of quickly: It can be fatal!

Good luck!
This is an EMERGENCY. Your cat is in pain. Call a vet, explain your financial situation, see what can be done. The cat is suffering.
You should put him on a LOW ASH diet like Hills CD, available from vets. Also unfortunately he needs to see a doctor now. Hope you can swing that cuz he is in pain.

My 3 year old cat Lynx has a bad cough and he has trouble breathing.?

My cat Lynx has had this problem off and on ever since i got him neutered last year. He gets this really nasty cough, you can also hear a rattling noise in his chest. Which causes him to have breathing problems, the only way i can help is to put him on my knee's with his head facing the floor and gently tap his back and sides, i tap his back for a while until he coughs really bad and this really nasty thick white mucus comes out of his lungs. This has happened to him when he's gotten stressed out, but it only last for 2 days tops. But this time he's not stressed out and he's had it for the last 5 days, its not getting any worse but its not getting any better. what i'm wondering is, maybe he could just have a cold this time? He still eating and drinking normally, even though he's sleeping more. If anybody has any ideas on what this is or what i can do i'd really appreciate the infomation.
Answers:
That sounds serious! Well my suggestion is to get it to a vet as soon as possible. I don't want you to lose your pet because you didn't act fast enough. Let the vet check it out and maybe you can help your cat.

PS: Good luck and I hope I helped. Hope your cat gets better and tell him that he has a good owner. Tell Lynx I said Hi!
I'm sorry but what you are describing is not normal and I really think you should give your vet a call and tell them what you have told us.

Good luck!

and do not give him Nyquil as suggested by someone else!
give him nyquil
Get him to the vet ASAP. It sounds like pneumonia. My cat just died of this less than a week ago because I didn't get him to the vet in time. Don't let this happen to you.
You should take him to the vet if it lasts any longer. Might be serious,
You really need to get your cat to the bet ASAP. but in the meantime to help with the breathing, if you have a humidifier this will help if not then turn on the shower to hot, steam the bathroom with your cat in the bathroom not the shower. the hot steam will help to loosen his breathing a bit. do not give your cat any medications until you see a vet. sounds like he has a nasty upper respirtory infection that may have turned into pneumonia. hope not. the increased sleeping is due to him not feeling well, don't wait until he stops eating or drinking then he will be really bad off. go now. good luck

my 3 year old cat keeps on going back to old apartment?

I have almost 4 year old cat he has been with me since he was 1 1/2. We had been living in a duplex where i let him go out when he pleased. I also had a 1 year old female. About 2 months ago I moved into a house about three blocks from where my apartment was the male is used to going out so i let him go out after a coulpe days. two days later i get a phone call from my old niebors who say they have my cat. i brought him back home. i repeated the steps about three times but each time he went back. the last time hed been gone for about a month. in that time my other cat was attacked and killed and we addopted a new kitten (3 mo now). we just gott him back and he has a stray mentalitty. my question is how do i get him use to the kitty, is he mad about the old cat that died (they werent close), and short of making him a house cat how do i keep him at my new house not the old one (the kitten is not aloud outside without a leash)?
Answers:
cats are not attached to the person that own it as a dog is, cats are more attached to the place they live, when they grow up. i have seen that twice in my experience, two neighbours of me had cats and they moved but the cats died at my neighborhood!
you probably cannot keep the cat from "going home" unless you confine him to the house. We had this problem years ago, and finally gave up. The people who bought our old house were happy to take care of the cat, and we let them have him.
Don't let him out
short of keeping him in all the time, you will just have to keep going over there to get him everyday.
You want to continue to risk his getting attacked and killed too. Doesn't make sense to me that you haven't learned from losing the first cat. I'm glad you know that the kitten shouldn't be out.

The only safe thing is for your old cat to stay inside. At least for the next six months -- through the dark and cold of winter. By spring he should be entirely acclimated to stay inside or will have forgotten about his old haunts.
if the situation has changed, try remembering what he really liked about the last place, and if possible do some similar things there. normally pets go back to the places they were happiest because of those things that were happening. , or because they like the familiar environment.
when you move or get a new pet you need to let the animal get used to the new place before you let it out of your sight. a week or more in the house. i think he expects to find you at his old home and you have to prove to it that you're 'here' now.
Nothing wrong with a house cat. Cats can live full happy lives inside. I would plan on keeping him inside at least for the foreseeable future .Things should stabilize in time. Then you can re-evaluate the situation and decide if you should let him out.
Poor guy really likes your old place! Moving is traumatic for them (even just rearranging furniture). On top of that you brought in a new cat without knowing how they would hit it off.

Trying to keep him inside is about the only option but that is going to be difficult. I had my little panther (not really but he thinks he is) neutered and within two days he was climbing the mini blinds wanting to go back out on safari. I even called the vet since I thought he would lose that desire. The vet said give it a month for the hormones to disappear. Yeah, right. Several months later he still has to go out stalking at night. He has taken over the guest room for his naps during the day. :)

Good luck

My 3 year old cat just wont get along with a 4 month old kitten i got a few weeks ago,she hisses all the time!

She hardly comes inside anymore and seems like shes mad not only at the kitten but at my husband and I also.
Answers:
you probably introduced them incorrectly. the proper way to introduce two cats is to let them smell something of each others first, a blanket or somethign so they can get familiar with it. cats don't work like people. then slowly expand the newcomer's territory. they have to get used to each other. he's clearly ANGRY at the new arrival. HE feels liek you are bringing an intruder into HIS territory. Give him plenty of attention. He's mad at you because you are responsible for bringing the kitten in the houshold and the kitten for being there. eventually he is going to get used to the ktiten but probably not for a while. you need to supervise all interaction until it is clear he is no longer mad. this will take a while. but you do not want this poor kitten destroyed. You should confine the two cats to seperate areas of the house and itnroduce them seprately and let them gradually get to know each other through smell. Let the older cat have his normal routine and put the kitten in a confined space. and then gradually reintroduce them. as the older cat's anger simmers down and he gets used to the idea that he's not he only cat in the house any more he will get used to it, you should be praisng him and letting him know he is LOVED like crazy with LOTS of attention. after they have sniffed each other's property, they get to sniff each other's ENVIRONMENT! The cat goes into the holding place where the kiten has been living and the kitten gets to explore the rest of the house for a short period of time. (make sure you will be able to catch the kitten he may not want to be caught after being in that confined space.) in the mean time after a period of time, when you feel hey both can handle it, for short periods of time they can start to interact with each other. After that they should be ok to mingle for longer and longer periods of time under supervision until they dont' show any aggression.
aww this happened with my cats we finally just had to get rid of our new kitten =[
Hi, I recently got a 7 week old kitten, and my 2 year old was mad, so jealous, Maybe because she feels this is only her house, but try to baby the old cat as much as you do the young one, my 2 year old hissed all the time be4 too, she still occasionally does but now she plays with her a little too, maybe in time your older one will come around, just give her lots of attention and let her know you love her as much still.
maybe the three year old is jealous of the four year old maybe she used to get all the attention but know she has to share the attention
I have had this issue too. I used to have older cats and when we'd bring home kittens the olders ones would be standoffish and even agressive. The only thing you can do is to slowly let them get used to each other. My cats are still separated by age but no longer fight and respect one another a lot more.
unfortunately it takes alot of time, patience and you have to let the older cat know that you still love her too.you have to introduce them slowly this is the key
My cat did the same thing when we got a kitten. She was just expressing her displeasment. The cat will eventually come around and start to swat at the kitten to establish a pecking order. Cats have their own personallity and moods (as i am sure you are aware). Fortunatelly the also forgive. Have you ever left your first cat alone for a few days. Then when you come home the cat is right their to check to see if you are okay then it disappears for a few hours (days)? It is basically the same thing
First of all, the kitten is in the cats turf. He will hiss and try to nip at it for a while until he gets used to the kitten. Just keep an eye on both for a while to make sure the kitten doesn't get bullied bad. Try to get them in the same room for about 30 minutes a day. Once the cat sees that the kitten is no threat, he will eventually calm down and be the same old cat as before. Just don't expect them to be buddies especially if they are the same sex. cats are very territorial and will try to chase any other cats in their home. good luck
It's a territory / possession thing - she'll get over it once she gets
used to it. Give her some special treats for awhile.
This takes time. As long as you let them take time to get used to each other they will most likely be fine. When my cat was 3 I got a kitten and he didn't care for her for about a year, then they loved each other.. to sleep together and give each other a bath. Then I got another kitten when my 2nd cat was a year old and then she was mad for a while but it didn't last. They all get a long great now.
the cat thinks she's not the baby anymore -just like kids no different but on a [simpler level],show her some extra love or get rid of the kitten and the husband [LOL]
You don't need me to tell you that your 3 year old cat doesn't like other cats. Your 3 year old is letting you know how much she doesn't like them. She hisses at the the kittens letting them know that this is my territory and I'm the boss. If this behavior isn't taken care of you better plan having cat fights when the kittens get older and maybe even worse. Just imagine curtains shredded and cats marking their territory or the 3 year old cat even running away. Cats have been known to be so jealous of other cats they act out in violent ways on the owners.
The best way to handle the situation is with behavior modification.
Go to www.spiritessence.com and order "New Beginnings" for your older cat. It will definitely help her get over her problems with the kitten and restore a good relationship between her and your husband and yourself.

At bottle costs $16.95, no shipping, handling, or taxes. You simply shake the bottle well and put three or four drops on your cat's fur between her ears. Treat her as often as you can for a week or ten days.

This is simple, inexpensive and there is nothing else that will do this job.

It will improve the situation between the cat and kitten greatly and heal her of any resentment she has for you and your husband.
My year old cat acts the same way with my 5 month old. We've had the younger one about 3 months now and it is starting to get better. They still chase each other and occasionally hiss, but it is not nearly as bad as it was when we first got him. I think the only thing to do is baby the older one too and just give it time. If it doesn't get better though, you'll have to get rid of the baby.
i know your talking about cat but when i boat a bay be shark and let him swim with my old shark he got mad and just when i was sleeping i saw my old shark eat in my new bay be shark but yea i did not really care of that bay be shark bc me and my old shark we new each other for 2 year
Territory is definitely the major problem. There may also be another, smaller problem. Your older cat may find the kitten annoying. Here is a little paragraph about this:

http://cats.about.com/od/wheretoadoptaca.
Awwwe sweetie, she is mad, you brought another animal into her territory. But believe it or not, your cat will adjust, it's part of her nature to be protective over her home, but once she realizes the kitten is of no threat, she will adjust and go about her normal ways. The same thing happened to my kitty's, but after about a month they were chums, playing with eachother. It took a little longer for them to learn to share the food bowl and every once in awhile, they hiss at eachother, but it due to the older cat wanting to rest while the kitten wants to play. So don't worry, it will work out, just takes adjustment time. Good luck.
Really show affection to the older one. It could get better in time.

Unfortunately, you must not have tried how to introduce new pets into your home. Oh well, too late.

As long as the older one is not physical with the kitten, give it time.

My 3 year old cat has a sweet tooth, is there anything she shouldn't eat?

She likes to lick marshmallow fluff and marshmallows and I let her. She doesn't do anything but lick it, and loves it. I know dogs can't have chocolate, what about cats?

Thanks in advance.
Answers:
That's too funny, my cat begs when my son eats marshmallows. She'll bat one around like a toy then eat it.

I feel an occasional treat is harmless. She also has this thing for my White Peach Rice Ice cream. If I'm eating it, she'll get up in my face until I give her some. I'll give her 1/4 tsp of it and she thinks it's super good stuff. (Won't do it for any other flavor.) She also likes pumpkin, watermelon, dry oatmeal, and spinach. If I make a spinach salad, she wants me to tear some up for her bowl as well. My childhood cat had a thing for corn on the cob.

Cats in the wild eat more than just meat too. They get nutrition from plant sources as well. Read the labels on some of the higher end dry cat foods. I get my cat Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. It has apples, carrots, rice, etc in it.

About the only things I've heard they shouldn't have is chocolate, dairy, and onions.
dont let her or him have gum
chocolate is very bad for cats, if I were you I would stick to cat foods.
ANYTHING HUMAN FOOD IS OFF LIMITS!
Their kidneys can"t handle it. stop now.
ask ur vet!
cats as well as other animals must limit sweets as they can develop diabetes.
cats also should not have chocolate, i also have a cat that likes apple fritters, but have stopped that now, as i want him to live a long life, and by contributing to bad eating will cut his life short
Dairy products are bad for cats so dont let him eat chocolate. Try finding some Pounce or Wisker Lickens. My cat likes spaghetti sauce. Maybe some fruit would be good.
I wouldn't recommed letting her eat much of anything besides cat food and not too much of that either you dont want that cat to get over weight and have any health problems!
Cats can't have chocolate either
no chocolate!
caf food only.or fish!
Milk, my cat loves milk so I gave it to her in plently, but we then had to fork out hundreds of pounds (not really that much, about 拢110) on vet bills and had to take her in three times because it's so bad for them, it takes seven months to digest apparently. And she's 'morbidly' obese. such a lie she's just got a little bit of kitty fat!
Cats are not designed to eat sweet things, they are predators and carnivores. You might be messing with their blood sugar levels by feeding them sweet stuff! Messing about with blood sugar level is dangerous - if I was you I would feed him/ her a nice piece of meat!
My female cat loves Doritos, and my male will steal raw potatoes out of a crock pot, but I've never seen them eat anything sweet. My mom has a cat that was sick and had to take pills and the vet told her to cover them in canned pumpkin to get the cat to eat them. Apparently they love the stuff and if the vet suggested she feed it to the cat it can't be bad for them.
PURE CHOCOLATE!! IT WILL KILL YOUR CAT
People, I'm pretty sure a cat should not eat a person.
no chocolate for kitty - i don't know about sugar but it definately should be limited
Marshmallows (and that marshmallow spread stuff) are mainly corn syrup, which really isn't that good for your cat. A tiny bit can't hurt her, but too much of it can lead to problems, including diabetes and kidney failure (it IS sugar, after all).

If your cat likes a sweet treat occasionally, try giving her some honey. It contains only natural fruit/plant sugars, and your cat won't have any problem digesting it (or metabolizing it). Plus, it has the added benefit of aiding her digestion.
If a cat is male it cant have dairy products. It is healthiest to feed your cat cat food, but human food once in a while for a treat is okay.
Please dont feed your cat table food. if you do they are going to want it all the time. Feed the cat some treats from the store, cat treats

My 3 month old kitten has tapeworms. Is this an emergency, how soon should I get him treated?

I just noticed this today and I think he has it pretty bad. If I can't take him to a vet today or tomorrow, what should I do with him until then? How can I keep the worms from getting on things in my home? Help!
Answers:
Hopefully you do not have small children who put everthing in their mouth and think WOW, here's some rice.I love rice, yummy.

You can either keep your kitten confined until Monday or you can go to the pet store and buy tapeworm treatment. The best is always from the vet though. Have you had the kitten checked for other intestinal parasites? Very important, if you haven't! Many are zoonotic. Not to mention dangerous to his health.
Take him to the vet and quick. Worms are eating your cats stopmach at this very moment. Your cat might get a shot to get things better or if it is too late surgery will have to imply. I am so sorry for you. Go to the vet.
Well be careful for1 and 2 this is cuz it could kill him.

Okay see a vet asap or if u can not I suggest if u give it water give it water from a deer park water or aquafina etc.. cuz scientists say tap water is not bein cleaned right and may have lots or little bacteria that is being given to pets. And after u r done wit dirty jobs make sure you wash be4 giving food to a pet cuz some nasty little germs crawl in their food and contaminates it.

So give it cold water from a water bottle and lots of it a day to get better and ur handsmust be clean to give it food. This is all I can think of . GOOD LUCK TO UR PET AND PRAYERS!!
Just keep the kitten contained in a cage preferably or maybe a bathroom. The tapeworms just eat the food that you kitten eats so your kitten may be losing weight. Just keep plenty of food and water on hand for the kitten to eat. Good Luck and take her to the vet on Monday.

If you have other pets or children keep them away from her. They can pick them up from her. They tend to vomit them up so if you find a pile pick it up in a tissue and flush them.
Your best bet is to get him treated as soon as possible. The only way to keep from contaminating other pets (or even yourself) would be to contain him in a carrier (large enough for catbox and food and water) until you can get vet care.
HOW DO YOU KNOW THEY'RE TAPEWORMS? GET HIM TO THE VET AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.
You don't need to take the cat to the vet. If you're sure about its tapeworms and have a good relationship with your vet, call your vet and ask them to prescribe a de-wormer. Or if your cat has not been seen by the vet before/you're not sure if its heartworm, then take the vet a fresh stool sample. They can check the sample and prescribe a de-wormer that way too. In the mean time, your cat is going to shed fragments of the tapeworm in its bowel movements and likely where he sleeps too. Just vaccum them up.
As others have suggested, get kitty to a vet.

It's not an emergency, so you don't have to rush to a 24/7 emergency clinic, but you should call Monday morning as soon as your regular clinic opens and make an appointment at the earliest possible time.

There are other kinds of worms, and while all are fairly easily treated, the treatment isn't the same for all kinds of worms. A vet will know what kind of worms they are.

If they're really tapeworms, then plan on also treating kitty for fleas. Tapeworms come from fleas, so if kitty has tapeworms he also has fleas. If you don't get rid of the fleas the tapeworms will be right back.
tapeworms in humans can kill, they act even faster in smaller animals. what the tapeworm is doing is eating all the nutrition that the cat gets from its food essentially starving your cat. she needs to be taken to the vet asap for medication and a shot, one of my cats had it at one point but she recovered so I'm sure yours will be fine with the proper care but don't delay get the care asap the longer you wait the more your cat will suffer
Tapeworm is bad. I don't know what to do. Do you have a Vet Hospital somewhere close? If you have kids, keep a good eye on them. Get your kitten treated as soon as possible. I don't know what else to say. Hope your kitty gets better. How do you think he got it? What brand of food does he eat? Has anyone else gotten tapeworm recently in your family? Hope he gets better.
Tapeworms come from ingesting a flea, the flea at its larvae stage ingested the tapeworm egg, tape worms are usually short, looking like a grain of rice, they are segmented %26 break off in these small pieces, you would have to ingest a flea to get tape worms but you may want to put the kitten somewhere, where they wont drop off on your bed, and other things, just go to the vet Monday %26 get something to treat him, but the pill will just kill the ones he has %26 will not stop him from getting more so you need to get Advantage or Frontline to get rid of the fleas.

My 3 month old kitten has a swollen belly?

She is acting normal, maybe sleeping a tiny bit more, but she still plays and is active. She seems to be eating normal (she ate tuna my son gave her plus her normal food). Should i be worried. I haven't gotten her shots yet because i fell short on money. Also can you buy the immunizations and administer them yourself for cheaper? Somone told me you could.
Answers:
a swollen belly is sometimes a sign that the kitten has worms. you shold get that checked out. I had a kitty named Q-ball who had the same problem, and I was too late taking him to the vet. He passed away.. I don't think it costs too much to get them wormed.
yes you can buy cat/dog shots
www.jefferspet.com
It sounds like to me your kitten just got a belly full of food today. It should be down by morning.
yes, I would definatly be worried but first, does she always have a swollen belly or is it just after she eats. If it is after she eats, then it is normal, if she has it all the time, get her to a vet, a swollen belly is a sure sign of worms which all baby cats and puppies are born with. I would ask a vet about the immunizations but I really don't think you can, at least I have never heard of it before. If the vet says it sounds like worms there are worming meds that you can buy in any pet store. Get them from a pet store though and not a grocery store as the grocery store ones are not as good and may not be as safe. Good luck with your kitty.
Does a baby with a swollen belly sound good and normal to you? Whenever there's a doubt about a health issue for a pet, the best thing to do is take it for a check-up at the vets. Oh, and start saving up. Having a baby pet and nurturing it so it grows up well calls for money to get those shots and correct health help from the vet.
1. If she's really only 3 months old and hasn't been to the vet, she's likely full of roundworms and/or coccidia..both are common causes of 'swollen' bellies in kittens.

2. Don't feed her tuna anymore! That could also be causing gasswollen belly. (Milk is another common cause of that.)

3. Many people bring me "3-month-old" kittens with swollen bellies, expecting it to be worms..only to find out that she's REALLY 5-6 months old, and pregnant.

4. If you vaccinate a pregnant cat, you will cause extreme deformities in the kittens.

5. Here's another really good reason why you shouldn't waste your money by vaccinating at home (see my post in the following thread):

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;.
she might have been over feed and make sure she is wormed and that only one person feeds her.
maybe the kitten is infected with worms
Worms can also cause a swollen belly, and kittens have worms more often than not. Spend the $$, take her to the vet for a check. But, I'm not a big believer in shots for cats that never go out. My cats are all healthy, and those that have passed, have passed from old age.
It may be intestinal parasites. OR she may just be bloated, wait a few days and if the swelling doesn't go down, contact your vet.
hello, well if the kitten hasen't been checked out by a licensed vet since you got her, most times that could actually be worms, not to alarm you but that's what can sometimes give a kitten that slightly bloated look.. it is of course good that she's eating and drinking okay thought. remember althought its tempting to feed table scraps remember onions, garlic and chocolate are toxic to cats. and yes you can find places on line.for do it at home vacc's but remember sometimes cats can have allergic reactions and it might be best to have the first set done by a vet then do the at home thing.
Kittens often have a fat belly after they eat. Did you give her a worm medicine? You can get the immunization medicine and all the stuff you need at Fosters or check online for veterinarian catalogs. I don't know if you have to have a perscription or not. Also Check in your town for low cost or free shots and spaying. Some have them. It gets more expensive when they are grown.
sounds like she's got worms to me. I'd take her to the vet.
Please don't buy the shots and administer yourself. You will probably overdose the cat. First shots are not that expensive and buying them will come out to about the same amount as letting a vet do it plus you need a prescription from a vet to get the shots.
You kitten is possibly having issues with learning when to stop eating. You might need to measure the food you give it. Also do not feed it human food until she is is fully grown and even then moderate treats. Many ailments cats get it do to poor nutrition and our food does not contain all that they need and some are bad for them like cow milk. As soon as you get about $50 together call your local vet and have her checked out also if you have a bit more to spare might want to have her shots done at the same time about $25 most vets. If you don't have $75 then call the vets and ask them their pricing pick the one that suites you and make an arrangement for payment.
pot belly in kittens could be a sign of worms. You can get a deworming liquid from the pet store of the grocery (most cos a little over $5.00. Kittens MUST be de-wormed because round worms could clog up their intestines and kill them
if she's never been given any worming medicine, you need to get her some immediately.

my 2 year old male cat, i discovered last night, is urinating blood help what is it?

Answers:
Hi there.blood in the urine could be indicative of Feline Urologic Syndromes--FUS.

Here's the various types:
FUS: http://www.moggies.co.uk/html/fus.html.
Feline Cystitis: http://www.homevet.com/petcare/cystitis..
Feline Struvite: http://www.petcarevabeach.com/struvite.h.
FLUTD (more common in male cats): http://www.thepetcenter.com/exa/uo.html.

Please ring your vet in the morning to arrange for an evaluation as it is difficult to diagnose through the Internet without a physical exam, urinalysis and blood work.
Time for the vet.
Take him to the vet. Urgently.
Take him to the vet today. Could just be urinary infection.
But you need to get him checked out.
go to the vet asap. it could be a lot of things but it's definately not normal
Maybe he has some form of intenal bleeding. My only other suggesstion is to take him to the vet as this sounds serious.
Your cat might have a kidney infection, or some type of feline bladder cancer. You need to get him to a Vet ASAP. Its not going to go away. This can be caused by so many things and its really serious. This can also be caused by an upper respitory infection, like a cold.
He probably has a urinary tract infection. There a certain foods that can help prevent the problem.
something that should be checked out by a vet. It is most likely a urinary tract infection, cats get these from time to time. the good news is that it can be cured. The bad news is that you will have to make him take pills or squirt liquid medicine down his throat for a week or two. It could be something worse but a UTI is most common.
Blood in the litter box always means time to see the vet.
This is potentially serious and you need to take your cat to the vet asap. Only the vet is going to be able to diagnose the problem and provide the treatment your cat needs.

I have a 12 year old male cat who became "blocked" (unable to urinate). He was "leaking" a bit and the urine was pink from the blood. I rushed him to the vet and he needed to "catheterize" him to enable him to relieve himself. This is extremely painful (imagine not being able to urinate!) and life threatening.

I'm not saying that your cat is "blocked" just letting you know that these things can be serious and your cat needs a vet.

I wish you all the best and good luck.
Sounds like a UTI or bladder infection. Could be something with the kidneys, also. Take him to the vet as soon as possible. Males are more prone to urinary crystals which can cause fatal blockages, so do something quick.

Good luck!
Get him to a vet asap.He has crystals or a bladder infection. He is in pain and his life could be in danger.Good luck!!
Sounds like cystitis, or could be something far more serious. Take your cat to a vet. This should have been your first instinct, not coming on here and posting questions!
sounds like a urinary tract infection. that won't go away without treatment. if left untreated it can turn into a kidney infection, and it that's untreated it can be fatal. call your vet ASAP.

My 2 year old indoor cat throws up food about 1 every 3 weeks? Is this normal?

Any tips about what I could do about this? She is a long hair tri-color tabby. A little bit overweight. Indoors only. Eats the same dry food; don't try different brands cause I knows cats can be picky and get upset stomaches easily.
Answers:
she may be getting overfed! is she puking it or just moving it from her dish? bring her to a vet
could be hairballs
Mine will do that is she eats to fast. Try giving her a smaller quantity and feeding more often. If you think her tummy is upset you can giver her pepto bismol, but if its only once every three weekes I wouldn't worry too much, just ask your vet next time you are in.
Talk to a vet because she can have a diesase. Plus your cat can get sick from just eating dry food. I read that dry food all the time could make your cat have kidney stones. But that is urinary. Also try an indoor weight food so she won't get so big.
it's not normal, feed her more with meat or dry food and milk.
Ensure that she is getting enough vitamins they have some that is in a tube and they like it to. The throwing up is probably hairball problems with the new vitamin that should taper off.
could be furballs, but be safe %26 take her to the vet
my cat never did that you should take her to a vet or change the type of food and amounts of food u give the cat
You might be overfeeding her we feed our cats 2wice a day one because theyre fat and two because we dont want that happening bring it to a vet they could give you some advice or even give you some better food(because it could be the food) or they could give u medicine hope this helps!!
It doesn't sound abnormal to throw up once every three weeks. She may be getting rid of fur balls. My cats sometimes chew on plants to help them throw up.
My cat throws up occasionally when he's eaten too quickly but I think if I was you I'd check with the vet just to make sure there's nothing else wrong.
I have a cat that was doing the same so we took her to the vet. The vet couldn't find anything wrong and suggested Science Diet for Sensitive Stomaches. She hasn't vomited since we switched her to this!
It's probably hair she's bringing up. Mine does the same thing. They have to get rid of it somehow, so don't bother to change the food.it won't make any difference.
hair ball causes that get some hairball treatment or keep
a grassy plant around to chew on

My 2 year old cat is drooling alot.we gave her a seagull feather a few days ago. would this be the problem?

She still is active and is eating but drools. Is it possible she may have contracted some disease from the feathers? Or may have cut herself on the feathers which is causing her to have the excessive drool.
Answers:
I would schedule a vet appointment. Your kittty may have gotten something stuck in it's mouth/throat that could be creating problems. If it has never done this before, it could be a sign of illness. There are many viruses that can be transmitted to cats through ingesting something they shouldn't. It could also be something related to her teeth like a broken one or infected one. If you care about your pet, got to the vet, as I always say. Better to know you just have a slobbery kitty than lose her.
i think your cat is dehydrated. lots of animals drool when they are thirsty. you should probably take her to the vet.
my (smaller) cat drools too. I asked my parents about this. They had a cat that drooled too. My cat does it when he's very happy. When I get into bed, he jumps up and lays down on my chest and wants lots of petting. This is when he drools the most. My parents say it's his say of showing his love.

I'd say dont worry. it's cute but gross.
could be feathers can carry large amts of bacteria and dz. Is she breathing ok. Sometimes drooling can be a sign of something caught in the throat and having diff breathing around it. Might want to get her to a vet.
Well just too be safe i would take her to the vet too make sure that your cat didn't have a reaction to the feather and to make sure that she didn't get any viruses from it..
hope i helped some!
Its possible the hard part of the feather may have lodged into the soft tissue of her palate or gums.I would have someone hold her ,wrapped in a towel to protect yourself, and with a gloved hand look inside her mouth and gums very closely for any evidence of foreign matter
Is the feather intact? I am wondering if part of the feather may have gotten caught in her back teeth or in the roof of her mouth. She may be drooling because of that. Just a thought.
If the cat did not drool BEFORE the feather, and drools SINCE the feather, then it is quite plausible the feather has had an influence on the cat's health.
My suggestion would be a visit to the vet (soon) for your drooling kitty, and make sure it continues to drink fluids and eat until then.
..maybe your moggy has overactive drool glands.this will make it extremely useful for washing your dads car with, as cat hair wont scratch the delicate paint-job.and you wont need to get a bucket of water every time you want to clean something!.
.at last you've discovered a use for wet cats..:}
Mine does too when I starch her head. Do you starch too?
take it to the vet! but until then, give it some more water, it somethings caught in the throat the water will help it get washed out. or if theres an infection, it will help keep more bacteria away.
no, she could have a rotten tooth, see your vet

My 2 year old cat has suddenly started to loose weight .?

Any ideas before i contact the vets.
Answers:
Is he always hungry? It might be worms.
Best get it checked out, could be anything.
Could be diabetes. Weight loss or gain can be symptoms. I hope not though.

Good luck.
go to the vets immediatly. there are numerous reasons for an animal to loose weight and none of them are good.
I had this problem with my cat, took her to the vets and said it was due to thyroid problems. I would take her to the vets to be on the safe side.
Perhaps it's met a new Friend and is feeling a little chubby?
well the same happened to me!! so try getting natures diet for dogs! i know its wierd but im studing as a vet!
at 2 lots of reasons. Felv, Fiv, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, parasites, Bartonella,
Could be worms, diabetes, or thyroid problems but I would think he/she is too young for that.

See a vet.
Have you changed the diet lately? Different food? Different litter? If you answer no to these then read on.
There are a number of reasons pets can loose weight from Bacterial or viral infections to fleas. Your best bet is to schedule an appointment with the vet.
Yes, contact the vet.
You'll need a stool sample as it could be parasites.
The vet will need to do blood work and check for hyperthyroidism, diabetes and kidney disease.(to name a few)
I hope your kitty is ok.
Is he neutered? If not, he might lose weight for that reason.

Is he an outdoor cat? He could have picked up worms (or some other disease).

How much weight has he lost and how quickly? This will give us a clue if you need to see a vet, like NOW. If the weight loss is substantial in a short period of time, I would take him to a vet immediately.

Most of my answers will ultimately required a trip to the vet - to spay/neuter, for wormer (although you can buy a general wormer such as panacur over the internet), or to determine if there is something more serious wrong.
Decreased weight is a symptom of HUNDREDS of different problems that a 2 year old cat could get.speak with a vet.
Probably worms. Take it to the Vet in anyway in case it is anything more serious.
it mite not be eating properally or it may hav worms
take it to the vet. Do not try to diagnose the ailment yourself. Chances are you will not get it right. The vet has studied for years to practice and is still learning day to day.Pay the money and get the cat sorted out asap.
he might be sick go to the vet and tell him what is going on or he is tired of what you ae feeding him my cat sometime stops eating if he is givin the same thang over and over or he might have somthing worng with his teeth
Well I have a 18yr old cat that lost weight dramatically like that and there was nothing wrong but just to be on the safe side please take your cat to a vet soon it could be many outher things. Good Luck
It could be a myriad of different things. Despite the answers from some of the folks on here it's highly unlikely that it's worms, unless you have an outdoor cat. Indoor, well-fed housecats just don't run into those kinds of problems. But weight loss, lethargy and loss of appetite are all symptoms of illness in cats and should be taken very seriously. You need to see your vet as soon as possible. If you're waiting for an appointment, try and not wait more than a couple of days. Most importantly, make sure your cat is drinking.dehydration in cats can be a killer. Good luck. I hope your kitty is feeling better soon!
normally worms. However cats do seem to loose weight in the summer.
CALL THE VET IMMEDIATELY! Weight loss could be a sign of something more serious: worms, thyroid, even leukemia
yeah our cat lost alot off wait,we were getting really worried about her so we took her two the vets they kept her in and did loads off different tests on her we had a phone call saying it was her thyroids she now has mediation for the rest off her life bless but she doing well ,so yeah have yours check out cause you never know,i wish you good luck.
it can be a problem of worms if she stays hungry.maybe she has an infection..u must buy the books that tell u that wat to do in these types of cases rather going to a vet..u can make her eat a little more so that she becomes perfect again.
i would go to the vets now its best to find out now.
Don't wait for ideas get to the vets pronto
Get to the vets right away, this may be a blockage which needs to be cleared. If one of the tubes is blocked leading to the stomach, the food wont reach there and she will lose weight.
Worms, FIV like HIV only its FIV in cats im being serious!! Or maybe feed it more. Maybe it had kittens!
change cat food--she may not like the food anymore. I had to switch food for my cat because he was tired of Meow Mix--now he is eating Hill's Science Diet
If your cat is still eating healthily, there's clearly something wrong. I'd book your cat into see the vet asap
