Answers:
Call a vet!! Didn't the shelter give you an emergency number to call if there were problems?
well i dont know about animals but i know that when a person looses her her mucus plug it could be hours, days or even a MO before they go into labor, just keep an eye on her she will want to go and hide and have her kittens in a place that she thinks is samfe and if you arent careful she may have them in a place that you dont want (your bed, heating vents ect.)
Yes it is 12 to 24 hours,

I had answered you question this morning, Do you have the number to contact the shelter, I would call them, we have over 250 guinea pigs in our rescue and they are housed by some 51 foster home, every foster has at least 3 contact if in the event of an emergency. You should have a least one,

Is she lying down, sit with her, try to have her settle, turn out light, and just sit and pet her, is she exhibiting and signs of contractions.
